I have been trying on every boot out there. I have wide feet and big calfs and most tall boots don't fit up high. I just tried on the BMW Santiago boots and found a perfect match. Big $$$$ at $389 but the quality is unreal and the sole is perfect for my needs. Light weight and easy to walk in good protection. BMW badging is very minimal on buckles.

Jaxon, and everyone looking at boots right now, PLEASE do yourself a favor and at least try these boots on or take a look at them. The only draw back I can find is that you have to go into a BMW shop to look at and or purchase.

Sounds like you are all set with the Santiagos, but I learned a trick for this, from ski boot fitting. A ski boot fitter told me that this problem with boots being too tight at the top of the cuff, is a very common issue for runners and bicyclists who ski, and for women who wear men's ski boots. Athletes because they have a wider calf, and women because their calf widens at a lower point. If you put a quarter inch heel lift in a boot, it moves the calf up in the boot so it's not so tight at the top. The lift can help with the width issue too, by pulling the ball of your foot back just a little bit in the boot. The heel lifts are just hard black plastic wedges that fit under the insole of the boot, and once they are installed it's easy to forget about them; the extra quarter inch of height isn't noticeable. The ones I have been using came out of an old pair of ski boots (they last forever), but their original source would have been that high dollar slopeside boot fitter at the ski resort. If I needed another set I'd check the local shoe repair.

Sidi Typhoons, I have about 20k miles on them in everything from super hot days to torrential rains and snow. Always kept my feet warm and dry. A little warm in the summer though

Will only buy one brand of boots, Sidi. Not cheap but well worth the $ IMO. Wore their On Road Sympatex (new version is Gore- Tex) for about a decade of daily use (still serviceable, just dont fit anymore) and they never leaked. A little tall but got used to that and a little hot in the summer. Currently have their Canyon Gore-Tex and love them (again no leaks with daily use), not as tall as the On Road and very comfortable with cushion insole added.

Howdy,
Another vote for the Sidi Canyons. Love em, no leaks, I need to replace my current pair because I ground down the outside edge of each boot on the Connie 14 :D . Also if you're a little short on the inseam the extra height of the Canyon soles help a bit especially with inserts.
Later,
Norm

I did also an extensive research before ordering Forma Adventure boots. Found out that i know couple of guys using them for road and off road, and they are amazed with them.
I tried Sidi boots several times in the past, and always found them narrow.

I ordered euro 46 in black , altought the brown ones look really mint.

Ihave the Sidi Adv Rains, jsut got them and so far I really like them. I have walked about 10 miles in them and they are pretty comfy. I dont care for the thickness of them. I have had to adjust my foot controls.

I also have the Sidi Discovery Rains and chose them over the Adventure model. I tried them both on and the Adventure model is a lot siffer, which probably offers better protection off road. However, I don't plan on riding anything too crazy on my S10, (mostly fire roads and forest service roads), so I wanted a boot that was going to be a bit more comfortable. The Adventure offers a lot better protection than a touring boot, but is still reasonably comfortable.
The Discovery Rains are what I'm leaning toward. Do you find them comfortable to walk in? Would you bring other shoes with you if you knew you would be walking 2-3 miles?

Well im wearing my forma adventure's right now and ive gotta say they are great. Right out of the box they feel very comfortable, ive been for a good ride with them on and have no problems shifting gears. It almost feels as if they have already been worn in. IM STOKED!! ::014::

As far as comfort goes do you have really wide feet by chance? i am getting word that the Forma's are good for the wide footed people and was wondering what your situation is. You have narrow feet and they have extra wide toe box etc?

I take size 47 euro, ive got skinny ankles with a high arch, norrow at the heal and wide at the toe box. I find them as comfortable as wearing a pair of hiking boots only with a tall ankle attached.
Im very impressed.

I am torn between the Sidi Adventure boot, the Sidi Crossfires, or the Sidi Chargers. I like the walking aspect of the adventure, but love the protection aspect of the charger/crossfire boots. I am thinking of just carrying from flip flops in my panniers and getting the off road boots even though I will ride mostly on the street. I dont know though...I want to try them and try and shift and brake on the S10.
