What the heck boots are you looking at, or ride with now ? I have a pair of sport touring boots Ive worn on my FJR for several years, but they are street boots.. Ive been reading my butt off about adventure type boots. I think I have it down to three or four pairs.. And they are all about the same price.

What are you looking at? What do ya have? Have you been looking, if so at what brand or style ? I know boots are like an oil thread, but would like to know what you LIKE and DONT LIKE.......

Looking at:
Sidi Adventures
TCX Infinity
Etc...
Etc......
These types.... Ive changed my mind about ten times... Are the TCX Infinities ADV off road boots? I have not decided on anything and not locked onto anything..... If ya got something you like, spill the beans....... ! ! ! ! ! ! Thanks O0

Sidi. Older model Discovery for street, Crossfires for dirt.

On the older Discovery version the buckle straps would break occasionally so I carry some spares. The newer version is much better.

I wouldn't want to walk very far in the Crossfires, that said I am reassured I will be able to walk as the foot/ankle protection is superior to the Disco.

Just checked their latest off road models and all of them except the Discovery Rain are using the "Flex" System which only allows the ankle to flex fore and aft, not to the side.

Gaerne Balance Oiled -
Flexible Boot that is totally water-proof and easy to ride as well as hike/walk in when off the bike.
It has a gum sole for grip and it is really comfortable.
The sole and flexibility is because it is designed as a Trials boot. (You need to walk the trials course and not get sore before you ride or fall off the rocks.)

Not cheap, but there are also more expensive boots.

The only negative is that the flexibility means they do not have as much ankle protection as some other boots.

I looked at the Gaerne's... I'm a bit worried some aggressive pegs will wear a big hole out of those bottoms? A similar boot is the TCX infinities that get good marks?? Ill keep reading what people post good and bad... ;)

I wear these alpinestars everyday to work and have not been disappointed yet. Very waterproof. Dog hair gets caught in the velcro sometimes... I have to get a new pair every 9 mos or so, but only because I wear them all day:

For offroad I use the combat touring lites. Not waterproof, but they seem to stay pretty dry anyway... and they seem to dry out fairly fast after repeated water crossings. Not as much protection as a true offroad boot, but you can wear 'em all day comfortably.

Good luck!

Tabasco, I have gone with the Combat lite through AeroSTich made by Sidi. I too like the look of the Sidi Adv boot but it isn't available in a 14. I even thought the Sidi Canyon GoreTex was nice well rounded boot. One other one that caught my eye is made by Hein-Geriche for BMW. Through Hein-Geriche in the UK they are called the Rallye III GoreTex. I think they are the nicest looking boot out there, but again not available in 14. Good luck with the decisions.

Footwear is as contentious of a subject as windshields, oil, tires.... That said I have 2 sets of TCX boots one for off and one for on and I would not hesitate buying a set of infinities. I have a set of Alpinestars Scouts and like them very much. I have a pair of SIDI Vortex off-road boots and do not like them much. Always liked my old Gaerne boots but not easy to find. I would like to try the balance model and like the looks of the Gaerne Adventure.

I have 20,000 miles on my Balance Oiled, but my pegs are not that agressive. I have a ruber insert on my 1200 GS Adventure and the pegs don't dig in. I can see NO wear on the soles but the soles are sewn-on and are replacable. I wear size 15 and was able to special order from a shop in AZ.

Alpine star Ridge water proof boots. They come over the ankle and are waterproof. I've ridden in them in 3 hours of hard rain and feet stayed dry. Plus I have walked in a stream to test them and feet still stayed dry. Plus they are comfy to wear all day and walk around in. My first pair lasted 5 years and 40k miles.

I think you can get Sidi and Alpine in wide sizes.... Sidi typically run narrow though...

Sidi On The Road Gore-Tex. FWIW, I wear wide shoes and the Sidi fits me just fine.

I use Sidi Adventures .... fit is superb. The most comfortable motorcycle boot I've ever worn.
