One more REALLY interesting thing I dug up is that you should cross-aim your driving lights if possible. The rationale is that you can get better lighting on the sides of the roads, and you can aim them just a bit higher since oncoming traffic will travel very quickly through the beam and not be as bothered. Very interesting, I plan to try it out.

Clem, I wanted to point something out - the discount code for the Prime light set gives the discount on either the 40 degree or 20 degree sets over on the VisionX website. So if anybody wanted to go with 40 degree spots instead of the 20 degree it seems they are in play.

Clem, let us know if this is a mistake.
They are giving us a lienient discount code, which is fine by me. No mistake, I am sure it is purposeful. Makes it nice to do business with a great company. :)

This is interesting - and a little hard to understand since on a MC the lights may only be mounted about 6" apart if between the fork tubes under the fairing.

I got the info directly from Vision X, The dimming module on their web page, allows a 50%-100% dimming capability. The dimmer is NOT included on the discount, so it's 39.00 more, making the total shipped 295.00 for the prime set up.
As you suggested, I did call their technical contact regarding the dimming module. Sounds like either one shown on the "Prime" page will work. The $40 one will only give you 50% dimming whereas the variable one can be adjusted anywhere between 50% and 100%. It did not sound to me that it would be an easy task to wire the dimming module into the bikes circuitry to switch from dim/bright/dim WITH the bike's switch. Still, I feel the Primes with the dimming module is the way to go.

Ok, so this group buy thing is kind of new to me. Are we supposed to get a coupon and then order on our own? I noticed some people have already purchased stuff. Did you guys jump the gun or what?

Sorry, the older I get, the less I know. My teenagers seem to know everything until they screw up. :D

Just curious, what is the preferred way to wire these up? I looked at the site that Jeff referred to, Eastern Beaver, and they offer this product that looks pretty good.

http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Products/Aux_Lights/aux_lights.html

Also, they offer an alternative connection for your headlights to connect directly to the battery and say that this makes your stock headlight performance much better. It does not require removal of any stock wiring, but eliminates the significant voltage drop that typical minimal stock wiring can suffer which results in lower light output. Here is the link for that.

I looked at both of the Eastern Beaver kits and they look good, if you can use them. On the S10 I will wire up my lights using a Fuse Block, or just a relay with a trigger wire and leads and fuse from the battery. This would be for on/off. This would be cheaper then EB, and the wires would be the correct length.
There are many ways of wiring the aux lights and that is just one. It gets a little more tricky if you wire them to come on with high beams. Although it is just a trigger wire and a relay.

I don't think the headlight kit is worth the time or money. The S10 has two H7 bulbs and an eyelid for high and low beam. You would have to make a hole in the back of the bulb holder and end up with something not a good as when you started.

I am basing this on what I have read and on the lights on the R1 which are the same setup. And I could be wrong. lol
