Got my new 38L Holan top box from Jason yesterday and got it mounted up on my AltRider rack this evening. Looks sharp and I can't wait to fill it up with goodies. Thanks Jason for the great customer service.

Install from bottom with rubber washers sandwiched by large fender washers to spread out the load:

Thanks Joel - the top case looks great on your bike, and really nice job on the install!

One more picture since someone asked me if a helmet can fit in the 38L top case. Yes, below is my Icon Variant (size XL) in the case with room to close the lid. The Variant helmet is pretty large since it has the big visor on top.

Thanks again Joel! The 38L is the perfect fit to house a helmet, yet still narrow enough across the bike to allow Holan panniers to hinge open. You can absolutely run a 45L Large+ or 62L Extra Large (a.k.a. "The Mini-Fridge" :D), but you'll need to undo both latches and lift the pannier lid straight off - the top case will hang over the panniers and prevent them from hinging up.

The 29L Medium case is a smaller cube-shaped version of the 38L - great if you need to drop tires over it for longer trips, but usually too small to fit a full-face helmet. My wife's small sized full-face HJC street helmet will *barely* fit in the 29L, and my Large helmet will not.

The 25L Photo case is great for commuting or if you plan to strap a Wolfman drybag to the top of the case. It's the same width as the 38L Large, but shorter in height.

We have a pretty good selection of top cases in stock now in various finishes and sizes, and they've been installed successfully on a variety of top case mounts. Any questions, or if you'd like to confirm availability on a specific case, please email me at sales AT advmotorrad DOT com or give the shop a ring at (585) 310-ADVM.

Thanks!

Liking the look of the system.
Is there a preferred rear rack for mounting a top box?
I have yet to install a rear rack on my 2014 Standard and would be interested in the top box as well as the panniers.

Thank you

The top boxes do not come drilled, so options are up to you. I mounted mine on an AltRider rack very similar to FertileLies ^^^^ pics above. Fits well, and the rack is large enough to support the top box fore and aft with little overhang.

So the 45L side bags will be less wide than the stock handlebars?

Can we get a picture of each color? Which one goes best with the 2013 gray?
Hi martin_nj - the 45L system comes in at 38" overall width. I believe stock handlebar width (including the hand guards) is 38.6", so it will just fit. Stock bar width (excluding the handguards) is right around 36", so if you're looking for something slightly narrower that will fit within that range, the 38L is going to be your best bet.

The matte black and natural aluminum are shown earlier in the thread, but here's a picture of the matte gray from one of our customers....please excuse them being mounted on the wrong bike.

Hey Arrowsigns - EscapeFJRtist and FertileLies did a great job of mounting theirs up on the AltRider rack, which seems to work very well. We're expecting a new top case / luggage rack from DS Bike soon that will work well with Holan (and other flat-bottomed) top cases, but don't have an ETA yet. We've got quite a few Super Tenere systems on order from Holan and have decent stock of top cases at the moment, but feel free to email me at sales AT advmotorrad DOT com or call (585) 310-ADVM if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Thanks Arrowsigns - glad to hear everything is mounted up, and would love to see some pictures south of the border with your Holan cases mounted up!

For those considering the Holan system for the Super Tenere, we did a pretty good job swamping the factory with orders this year and they've been taking longer to arrive than usual. I have at least half a dozen systems on order in the more popular sizes and finishes, so hopefully we'll see some stock make it's way to New York soon.

In the meantime, I have exactly one Super Tenere system in stock that isn't spoken for. I've got a set of stainless steel racks in the natural bead-blast finish (can be powdercoated in black for a slight upcharge), as well as 38L panniers in matte gray or natural aluminum. I also have a set of 45L panniers in matte black; however, this set doesn't have the mounting kits pre-installed, so I can offer a slight discount if you want to DIY. If you're interested in equipping your bike with a Holan luggage system, give us a call at (585) 310-ADVM or email me at sales AT advmotorrad DOT com. :)

It may have already been mentioned, but the Holan systems are compatible with the 2014 ES bikes! ::012::

Thanks again...

Any idea if the 45L will fit a helmet? When are you getting the gray boxes in?

I asked the same question earlier, the answer is no, evidently the lip at the top of the box narrows the opening so that most helmets won't fit. Other than that issue, these are great panniers, wish they would come out with a 48 to 50 liter pannier that would fit a full face helmet.

Ah bummer. I'm really liking the grey color on those...goes really well with the 2014 ES matte grey

Hi guys - yeah, as confirmed by Nick, the 45L cases will not accept a full-face helmet. It's the same story with the BUMOT systems...the inner lip that does wonders for waterproofness makes it too narrow to get a helmet in. The 38L Holan top case and/or 41L BUMOT top case will both fit a full-face helmet with some room around it for "stuffable" gear (rain suit, etc).

We just received the most recent shipment from Holan and I may have one or two Super Tenere systems onboard that aren't spoken for. We're going to inventory everything this weekend, but I know I do have 38L panniers in matte gray, 38L panniers in natural aluminum, and (potentially) 31L panniers in matte black. The latter is an awesome option for minimizing width and ideal for shorter touring durations and/or commuting where you might not need the capacity (and width) of the larger sizes. You can't bring the kitchen sink, but you can actually put quite a bit in there! If you'd like to confirm actual inventory on hand and/or have any questions, please feel free to call us at (585) 310-ADVM or email us at info AT advmotorrad DOT com.

Thanks!

Hi guys - hope your 2015 is off to a great start

We've got quite a few Holan Nomada Pro II Super Tenere pannier systems on order, but (as of today) have the following in stock in New York and ready to ship within 24 hours of your order:
  • * Mild Steel Black Racks - 38L Panniers in your choice of Natural Aluminum or Matte Gray powdercoat
  • * Mild Steel Black Racks - 31L Panniers in Matte Black powdercoat
I do have two sets of the 38L matte gray panniers in stock, so can mix and match as needed. Given the number of options Holan offers - size, color/finish, rack material, and other factory-installed options - we will often need to order in a custom system for you. If you're one of the lucky riders enjoying the single digit weather in the Northeast like we are, it's tough to think about riding but the season will be here before you know it! Submitting your order sooner than later will make sure you have bags (or other parts on your bike) as soon as Mother Nature cooperates.

Feel free to call us at (585) 310-ADVM or email us at info AT advmotorrad DOT com if you'd like to purchase one of the systems in stock, reserve one of the systems on order, and get answers to any questions you may have.

Thanks!
