The 705 I have on the front has just under 14K on it. It is cupped and noisy but still has a lot on tread on it.
I just changed out my front 705 today. 15000 miles and still plenty of tread, but man, it got noisy. Couldn't take it anymore, LOL
Great handling street tire though, and not bad off road.

I like the way the rear handles...I'll see where the mileage ends up.

Did you ever feel the front was a bit strange? It always felt strange to me on road. I had hoped some break-in would help but still has some odd handling characteristics. It would have to grip better in loose stuff to make up for it, so I'm dumping it. It's much better than the OEM wing but I'm going more aggressive up front.

Well I'll stick some info in here for Ref...

Rear K60 150/70 10,500Km.

A small amount of knob rip going on. The rear is less slippery on gravel now in the centre...

However the profile is now such that keeled over it can't take as much power as it used to. I had a bit if sideways action happening at the rear up hill under power on smooth tarmac in the dry in 3rd..(you know one of those power limited gears :D)

I don't think I have the contact patch I used to have...

But now I know..

Anyway the bike is sounding more like a truck these days when leaned over but the majority of the time it was great. Just use less right wrist when cranked over in lower gears.

Might have to do a bit more track work to reprofile the tire a bit

I passed 10k on my rear and still got another K or so before it's a pure slick. Ride is terrible now.
Got a plug and a can of tire sealer in it.

Good tire for mileage. Handling on and off good. Not so good off now that's it's a slick.

Ive run Shinko 705 ( only 5k wear ) and Connie TKC ( 6k/mi )

I'm gonna try a Metzler Tourance next. Ran them exclusively on my DL1000 and was getting 10k/mi @ $130. ea.

Folks are going to run what ever pressures feels good to them and perceived tire wear. Might vary with riding style, motorcycle loading, temperatures, materials used in local road construction, and how often the carcass air is changed. ::013::

Most of the year in Flatistan I am at 36/42 psi. Nevertheless, I am not one of those guys with uncanny senses who can be riding along and consider, "Hmm, I think the rear tire is 1.4 psi low, better check it out." I do check the pressures out every couple weeks and before every ride more than 100 miles or so. My Scouts have about 12K miles on them & I will most likely get another 2-3K.

Interesting. When worn, I find I have better on tarmac traction for hooligan romps in the local canyon. I only get pucker when they are brand new, especially in the wet for that first 50-100 miles. although, I do admit to having the TCS light blinking under hooligan conditions, worn or not. Technology is a good thing. ;D

For sure.. Brand new set of K60's are a bit sketchy until you get a few hundred on them.. After that you can rail on them pretty damn hard, drag pegs if ya want... As an "overall" ADV tire its probably the best I have ever used for both road / off road / longevity.
About a month ago I almost high sided and threw the bike away... I had it in (S) with TC turned off, I must have down shifted one more time that I had expected. The clutch was locked (let out) entering the corner, I cracked the throttle and it broke the tire loose and I almost low sided. When I got off the throttle I almost high sided.. I caught it and then had to go home and change my pants. That was my fault not the tires, but I guess I added a bit to much power to ADV tire... :D

I have over 8,000 miles on my K60's. I was planning on replacing the rear, but after seeing the tire Jeff rode on from North Central Cali to do an all day off highway ride and them home again...... I think I'm good for awhile. His are slick down the middle and stubs on the sides. And he rides them hard. I'm sold on the Heidenau product.

Getting ready to ride two up from Va. to Ak on a Tenere pulling a trailer.

About 11k.

Tire strategy is brand new K60's when I leave and an extra k60 rear in the trailer to be put on in AK before heading home.

Think I'll be okay on one front considering the extra weight and chip seal roads?

Well maybe leaving with a new k60 front and tourance rear then putting on a new k60 rear once I am up there.

I have a brand new pair of k60s in the garage and just went online to order another rear and they seem to be all sold out. Looks like a tourance rear would be close to $100 cheaper anyway.

I don't think there will be a lot of extra weight on the front, just the rear. You should be fine. I routinely see 20k+ from fronts. Don't stress if the tread wear looks uneven after 10k, it's just the nature of the tread blocks and will even back out, then look uneven on the opposite side later, then even back out, etc.

Wife and I take off on June 12th for AK. Not quite as many miles as you two. Looking at 4-5 weeks on the road, and really looking forward to being on the move. Fresh K60s for both of us to start.

Though I am a little curious if the 140/80B-17 on her F650GS2 will hold up as well as the 150/70-17 rear. It's the older style that had step tread blocks in the middle, which are now worn smooth after only about 600 miles.

K60s can be had from several vendors. I got my last pair from Ride On ADV, but have seen them at Revzilla and other vendors too.

Thanks,

Revzilla, Twisted throttle etc. are all out of stock right now. The Only K60 rear I found was for $230 shipped on ebay. I ordered a standard Tourance for $135 shipped from Amazon.

The Tourance will start the trip and probably get switched to the k60 in Fairbanks before we do the Dalton, ride AK and come home on the Cassiar.

We are leaving 6/20. Keep an eye out for a yellow Tenere.

We are heading up to Hyder, then riding the Cassiar to Watson Lake before heading North to Dawson City, YT for the Dust2Dawson ADV event. Black S10 with red one gallon water jug on the back with a small pelican case and Zega Pro panniers, with a silver F650GS2. both sporting Rumbux crash bars and fuel cells, aux lights, etc.

..I am putting on a fresh set of k60s this weekend and am also heading to Alaska beginning of June...I am riding solo and keeping packing as minimal as possible...I am in NY so its going to be about 11~12 k miles for this trip...Any chance of making it there and back on one set of K60s?...I plan on taking it easy on the throttle and just exploring on this ride, not like the ride I did with dirt dad at Romney..lol..

It all depends on your riding style. I get 12k from the rear and 20k+ from the front, some riders get even better, many get worse. What kind of mileage do you normally see from your rear tires?

Something else, K60 rears will look like they are 500 miles from the wear bars for about 2000 miles. When they square off the wear rate really slows down. Leave TCS on and use steady throttle, rather than big on/off movements and you'll probably be fine. OTOH, if you normally get 5-6k from a rear tire, you might want to plan on a tire change, and if you don't need it, no big deal. I have shipped tires to dealers to be held for me in the past. I did have to pay for one to be shipped back to me, since I didn't need it and did not want to pack it on the bike. Small price to pay for the comfort of knowing you have a tire waiting if you need it.

Just my $0.02, YMMV... literally. ;D

Thanks..I never used a K60 yet so don't have a reference of how long it will last for my riding...Anakee2 last about 6 k..ANAKEE 3 could have gotten about 8 k but swapped it early to try a mitas which I wanted for the dirt down at Romney...the mitas is doing good and only about 2500 on it but want to start out with fresh rubber and the K60 s track record seems like the best choice to make the trip..Why does everyone ship tires to Alaska? To save money or does no dealer stock tires? The Tenere is a common size same as Vstrom so I would think some dealers would stock the size even if its a anakee or something else If it will get you home ...its all good...

We have about 5-6 Tenere in the Whitehorse, Yukon area and Yukon Yamaha has tires to fit our bikes. We are right on your route to Alaska. Yukon Yamaha is a very good dealership and will work hard to take care of Tenere riders. ::26:: ::26::
