I'm planning on having a set of K60's put on at Yukon Yamaha.....with much thanks to Rem here on the forum. Rem got me scheduled in. So that should get me to Alaska and return me back to Indiana.

That's probably a wise decision. I only got between. 6 and 8k out of my K60s. I don't ride like we did on long trips. That would be exhausting.Taz1200 said:.I plan on taking it easy on the throttle and just exploring on this ride, not like the ride I did with dirt dad at Romney..lol..

Yes sir! That is why I order mine in the winter when they will deal on them. Got my current set for under $300. I learned the hard way in the past.eemsreno said:Sounds like I need to get a set of K60s ordered now for my trip the first of Aug. I have heard from others that every place is out of stock.
Thanks.. .. Too far from home to ride like that .. I will be in touring mind frame...if you get 8 k out of set with your normal riding then 12 k sounds reasonable for me...In case they don't see my name on the list ..I saw the post on the Romney shirts and am having one of the guys I rode down with order mine with his so it will be here when I get back...Dirt_Dad said:That's probably a wise decision. Good luck on the trip, George. Hope all goes well for you.
I havent shipped to AK. I did ship to CA so I knew I'd have the tire I wanted, waiting for me, if I needed it. Odds are you will always save money on the tire cost, but with the shipping tossed in, probably not. But you'll know it's going to be available, and you won't have to settle for something else. Just depends on how picky you are about tires. And how pressed for time you are on your trip. Some people don't mind waiting a couple of days or a week for something to be ordered. Others are ticking off the minutes while waiting for the tire swap. On our AK trip, we have rooms booked for every night in AK and YT, so if we miss one, it screws our entire schedule and we have to ride double our intended mileage to get to the next reservation. Not impossible, just not as fun. Hopefully that won't occur.Taz1200 said:Why does everyone ship tires to Alaska? To save money or does no dealer stock tires? The Tenere is a common size same as Vstrom so I would think some dealers would stock the size even if its a anakee or something else If it will get you home ...its all good...
To be honest, the only time I got 8k out of the K60s was when the first 4,500 miles were nearly all pavement on the Newfoundland trip. When I ran them in dirt I saw noticeably lower mileage. But if Checkswrecks did it with no problems I'd trust his experience on that kind of trip.Taz1200 said:Thanks.. .. Too far from home to ride like that .. 40psi and TCS off will do that!! ::025::
What pressure have you been running? Are you happy with the performance running this pressure ?hojo in sc said:My front tire has 13,000 miles and 6mm of tread. I've been very pleased with this tire!
I run 33 PSI and I'm very happy. I drive extremely aggressively on the mountains (paved) roads with Bridgestone Battle Wings (as you know, aggressive street tires) and I've never once been concerned about lack of grip. Okay, maybe once when it was raining in CO and I was racing down a mountain, I did feel the back tire give just a little, but it didn't make me slow down any for the rest of the day.~TABASCO~ said:What pressure have you been running?
