I plan on buying these ones:

http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/hstrial-QualiRegResou/-strse-41/Model-60-LED-off/Detail.bok

In the detailed description there are beam shots (in a pool). Looks like a nice, wide beam to me

Together with the dimmer they sell:

http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/hstrial-QualiRegResou/-strse-22/Waterproof-Wireless-LED-Dimmer/Detail.bok

That dimmer has a bypass. So you can have a dimmed mode for daytime running and a bypass mode with full power.
I think I'm going to wire that dimmer to a 3-pos-swith like this one:

http://www.trailtech.net/3600-PWH.html

The 12V will be wired to the Aux lights connector. That way I will be able to switch between daytime-running-mode (10% or something), full power (2 x 3600 lumen in the case of 2 x Model 60 lights) or off. Looks like a good setup then.
Reviews on Adv about those lights (the vendor resides there) are very good.

I already have 35W HIDs on my bike, and that's about 80 lumen/Watt. That's 2800 lumen / 35W Hid. So those Model 60 led lights produce a ridiculous amount of light ::019::

They don't look that big either: http://alleycatdad.zenfolio.com/img/s1/v47/p114350014-5.jpg (excuse me for the orange :D)

They're too bright for daytime running lights in my opinion.
Thanks. I'll look for something with a dimmer for daytime use. The AdvMonstar lights w/ dimmer look good. Has anyone used the trick of mounting 2 aux lights and aiming them so that their patterns cross. That way, when you lean to turn left, the right hand light illuminates the turn and visa-versa?

I have a question/problem with wiring that I'm sure there are plenty out there can help me with!! I just picked up one of those Rigid Industries Specter driving lamps (like Mellow & Bloodline) & got it all mounted up nice & neat below the headlite. My problem is with the wiring (Sound familiar??). The kit came with a three prong switch, but I am using a 2 prong switch. I did call & talk to Rigid's tech & he said that the third prong was just for liting up the switch & to just discard the extra power wire (which I did). That leaves two joined ground wires (red/black) & one red wire. I'm running power from an Eastern Beaver power distribution unit (switched) to the switch -- nothing complicated, like tapping into the hi-beams, just on/off with the switch. My problem is that as soon as I power up the bike, then hit the handlebar switch, it pops the fuse (10 amp) in the E.B. box!! So, what am I missing?? Like I said.. Help!!!

for those of you that have this Specter 6" 9-LED and are using another switch to turn it on and off...
I note that the Tusk switch has only 2 prongs and there are 3 wires coming off the lighting harness.
How did you hook it up - what color lead did you leave off - ??

I'd like to buy a better switch, but have no idea how to wire the blinkin' thing.

Post away or PM me if you'd like.

TIA

Has anyone found a dimmer for the Rigid light yet? I want 50% during the day, and 100% when I flip to high beams...

Or is the light dimmable via voltage adjustments? I could always wire up a variable voltage PS...

I believe LEDs require a pulse modulated dimmer. I recently purchased a waterproof PMD with highbeam bypass and some very bright lights (Mod. 44) from advmonster.com. Very happy so far but no telling how long they will last. There is a discussion on advrider (venders section) with over 2000 posts on advmonster and their products.

Does the light work if you just hook it up to positive and negitive-?
I would say you just want to "break" one of the wires thru the switch. It could be either one but I would use the positive.

Yea, that's what we ended up doing. The supplied harness was crap - made no sense. We just pulled it apart & wired it with the positive across the switch. Works like a charm!! (Great lite!!). Thanks!!

Got my Advmonster Model 60 LEDs mounted since a week or 2-3 and love them. My bike is now a commute monster. Everybody is looking at me as if they're watching close Encounters :D

Here the leds are dimmed to about 30% of their capacity. When I use my high beams they go to 100%

Great photo showing how it looks coming at you. ::008:: How did you dim it to 30%? I assume PWM but which controller/dimmer?
Thanks,
John

I also installed ADVmonster LED lights. I used the wireless PMD that they sell ($45). I mounted the dimmer down near the battery and keep the key fob controller in my tank bag. I don't mess with the controller at all now that I have it set where I want it for daytime running (always on when the key is on). I connected the built-in bypass wire to the bike's high beam (yellow) wire so when I hit the high beam switch the LEDs come on full blast. I purchased the yellow lens covers and I believe the lights really stand out in the daytime. I haven't used them ride at night yet.

Thanks guys! That is a big help. I saw the dimmer with the remote on advmonster but didn't want to have to carry or fool with the remote all the time. But is sounds like you only need the remote to make the adjustments to get the dim mode where you want it and then it stays the same. Is that correct? If so it will work great for me.
Thanks again,
John

Yes. Set the dimmer to whatever level you want and forget it.

Ordered two complete sets! One for my S10 and one for my son's V-Strom.
4 60's, 4 mounts, and two dimmers.
Thanks again for the info! ::012::
