Question for those that have installed these lights-

Did you hook them up to the OEM aux light plug? I'm guessing that means the LED is active when the high beam switch is engaged?

Anyone consider or installing a second switch to use the LED light when the bike is not running?
No.
The Rigid lights come with fused wire w/ battery rings + a rocker switch. That's one installation option.

You could also order the Yamaha aux. connector and wire it in. Then, the LEDs would be switched with the key.

Personally, I'm waiting for an Eastern Beaver Fuse Block w/ the relay connector that plugs into the OEM aux plug (http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Bike_Specific/Super_Tenere/super_tenere.html). I have several electrical parts (GPS, heated gips, etc) that I want to be key-switched, so this will be the best of both worlds. With that setup, I won't use the Rigid-supplied rocker switch.

Does the OEM aux. light electrical socket work with "key on"? This is the configuration I prefer. "key on" with an on-off switch on the handlebar. That way, when I turn the key off, no worries it was left on.

I installed this fantastic LED driving light from Rigid Industies.

Very tidy.

I had to remove the factory crashbar loop under the headlight but it's really neat and out of the way.

Comparing the factory light output to the LED.

Low beam.

High beam with LED.

Here in Australia animal strikes are very common particularly at night and to say these lights are good is an understatement! ::008::
Dave, just got these in the mail... hooked up to a 12v battery and wow, very nice!

I'm curious about your install. I'm assuming you used the longer brackets and connected to the 2 lower bolts that hold the oem headlight section in place? Did you have to grind down the upper bent part of the brackets so they are flush against the light or did you grind a notch in the oem headlight support? or neither? Thanks!

I don't know how effective these are going to be at night 'til I take a ride later with them but just in a dark garage with no lights on these do a better job then my HIDs so it's looking very promising.

Okay, since I have no patience... LOL

I bent the longer part of the brackets a little and that worked. These lights fit in there like they were made for that area. There is NO room for adjustment up/down so I'm hoping that the way they install will be perfect.

I'll wire up my relay later today and connect everything up and will try to get it out later tonight for a ride. Not easy to find a dark area around this big city so I may not get any real good pics until my 1-week 5k mile trip next week but I'll do my best.

I should have a good report after that trip as I'll be riding through 13 or more states and in varying early morning and late night conditions.

The ones I installed were the 6" Spector LED version and I'll be triggering them for my high-beam only. They are too bright for day time use as running lights that's for certain.

My Black Raven has the OEM frame guard installed. I think that Rigid 10 LED unit will bolt right on to it up the top cross bar. Any suggestions from anyone who has possibly done this?

Here's what I did with the long bracket that came with the kit to get the angle right, just put it in a vise and skewed it a little.

These are pretty darn bright... I think I like... I like a lot...

They overpower the highbeams and even the camera's auto function can't compensate to well.

More later tonight after it gets dark.

I'm headed out to the garage to install mine now. Thanks for the pic of the bracket. I'm flat out stealing your idea.

Well, snag one. The OEM fog light plug is not switched by the high beams. It's switched by the key on the brown wire. The red is a constant hot.

Yeah, I used a relay on mine and tapped into the pink wire coming from the upper loom when you take the upper blue panel off on the right side. That's my trigger, not sure if that one would be a good source to tap for powering the lights.

Mounted mine today. Used the long brackets, but different holes on bike. Had to grind a notch, but no bending. Holes at proper width for light.

Just took a quick spin around the neighborhood... holy cow... these are very nice and appear to be as much light as the 2 HID Kragen aux lights I have on my ST1300. I won't know for sure until I get it out in the country but from what I'm seeing the range is good and it fills in a lot of the side areas that are dark when you're leaned over yet not too much of the road right in front of you.. it's a very good beam pattern.

I used the factory lower light surround 10mm screws and the long brackets that came with the light. I redrilled one hole in each bracket higher up so the lights mounted flush and are very solid. No vibration at all even on the roughest roads..

Looking at all your posts I'm very glad you're all happy with the lights. They really do fit snugly on the bike and even look like they should be there... ::008::

They guy I bought the lights from tried to get me to buy the 10" LED bar but I wanted something discreet so I went for the 6 inch. I was originally wanting to mount it to the crashbar and bought billet mounts as well but after getting the lights and trying them it was a much better option to remove the hoop and mount it directly to the body.

A 10 inch light bar may fit ok on the crashbar hoop but I'd imagine it would stick out a bit.

Are you planning to modify the hoop of the OEM crash bar? I made a mockup of the Rigid double row L/bar but dropped the idea when I saw there would not be clearance for the fork travel. Glad the single row is giving plenty of light. I will also go this route but I want to keep the hoop.
