Thanks Phil! I've got you on the list to get a new TT rear bracket when it arrives, but would also be interested if you have some thoughts on a better mousetrap. :)

Some new updates.....

* SW-Motech/Trax "High Clearance" box is underway and I hope to see them by the end of the month. Thanks to those of you that have been waiting so patiently! I know riding season is almost here (for some of you lucky guys down South or out West, it IS here!) and I will get these to you as fast as I can!

* Updated Touratech rear brackets are finalized and should be shipping out this week or next. I've already got two I'm sending to Phil and Kevin to update their toolboxes, but if you have a set of TT racks, we now have a better mousetrap. :D

* In addition to the confirmed Happy Trails fit, the raid toolbox with the standard mounts also works behind GIVI racks! It's a snug fit (and I think there's actually a bit more more door opening space than the photo shows), but works great behind the rack.

Any questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Jason

Hey guys - the team at DS Bike has been cranking this week to finish up the SW-Motech/Trax boxes. I'm expecting shipment next week, and will post back up here once I get confirmation from FedEx they're en route and through Customs.

I do have decent stock of the OEM/Happy Trail boxes if anyone is looking to add some carrying capacity to their bike and will ship within 24 hours.

Thanks!

Just hit the "Shop by Motorcycle" button, click on Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere and they are listed right there, the fourth item down. Here's the direct link:

http://www.advmotorrad.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_81_82&product_id=131

Once there just click on the button for what kind of cases you have...

They are also listed under the "Luggage Accessories" section, fifth item down the page.

Then I am confused. What is "I do have decent stock of the OEM/Happy Trail boxes if anyone is looking to add some carrying capacity to their bike and will ship within 24 hours." ? What you showed is the DS box.

I like the DS box and have it mounted like you suggested but it is inline with the brake caliper. If I mount it as specified it is pressed against the OEM side case. How long before the brackets break. I don't understand why the DS box fits other Tenere's and not mine.

Hey, don't get mad at me, Tomatocity...

I don't work for the ADV Motorrad. I was just trying to help you find the DS boxes quickly.

That said, I think you may be confused. IIRC, ADV Motorrad does not sell any side cases themselves except for the Holan brand, and what he is referring to is different configuration DS boxes to fit with various brand side cases.

But perhaps I should bow out now and stop trying to help... :D

As you can see there is certainly some space between the DS box and the OEM side case on my bike. I can only think yours is different because of how the bracket position relates to where you placed them on the mounting bolts related to the other hardware, washers, etc. or the orientation of the brackets themselves. Maybe worth double-checking.

Hey I don't get mad at anything unless it is earned, sort of like LA Traffic. I was looking for the mentioned "OEM/Happy Trail boxes".

Thanks for the photo Rocky. That is exactly the way mine is now mounted. My concern is / was whether the DS box will clear the brake caliper when fully compressed. I just measured the clearance and it is 8" even. Will this be enough. Does the shock have 7.5" of travel or does the axle have 7.5" of travel?

I see you have the door installed upside down as I do. My turn signal occasionally hits hits the box. Gotta wonder how much nicer the fit would be if they used a NA Tenere for the mock up.

Hey guys - sorry for the confusion! We don't carry OEM or Happy Trail pannier systems (we specialize in the Holan systems, as Dallara rightly pointed out), but the DS Bike Protection box we currently have in stock is designed to work with the OEM and Happy Trail racks. We'll be getting more stock soon of the Touratech-specific application (different brackets) as well as the SW-Motech/Trax application.

DSBP actually raised the case floor from the earlier GS-specific application to provide additional clearance. Even with the shock bottomed out, the rear caliper should not contact the case floor and at 8" of clearance to the caliper, you should still have at least a 1/2" of clearance when down to the shock bumpstop. Granted, that's not a lot, but if you're spending too much time riding on the shock bumpstop, it might be time to investigate some suspension upgrades. :D

Hope that helps...any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Jason,

Does the upcoming TT model work with the Holan Racks? If not what are the chances of having one set up to work with the Holans?

Unfortunately, it probably won't. One of the nice things about the Holan systems is how tightly they fit to the bike...unfortunately, that also makes it pretty tricky to fit a raidbox between the pannier loop and the subframe. I'm working with DSBP on a few different ideas to see if we can get one to fit up, and I'll definitely update the thread when/if it becomes available.

Thanks!

Jason

For thost patient individuals that have dutifully waited for the arrival of the SW-Motech/Trax raid toolboxes...your wait is finally over. :D We received our first shipment of 10 of the SW-Motech/Trax boxes, and have already boxed and shipped all orders that were pending inventory. We've got 5 left in stock right now, so if you've been waiting for them to arrive before placing your order - they're here!

By design, the box is slightly smaller than the OEM box due to space constraints with the SW-Motech rack and crossbrace placement. DSBP has achieved a nice balance of clearance from the caliper and pannier rack, as well as capacity to carry tools and spares. Here are a few pics to whet your appetite of the final design....any questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Jason
