My tool box arrived today in the mail. No damage or scratches. The mounting brackets are the same as Dalara observed. Seems plenty sturdy enough for what it will carry.
Thanks for bringing these in.
Doug
Mine too. Same observation basically. Some tool marks but nothing significant. The edges of the opening are sharp so I'll get a file to them. Not fitted yet - most likely tomorrow - but I'm sure it will do the job!

Thanks Jason.

Installed. Looks good.

I turned the door the other way up to make it easier to open otherwise it's very tight with the stock indicator.

Has anyone taken a hose to it and given it a good drenching to test how watertight it is?

Guys, thanks for all the feedback and pictures! It's great seeing these mounted up, and I think you're really going to enjoy the extra space it provides.

Doug/RockyDS, the toolbox looks great! Please post up your thoughts when you have some miles on it?

Dallara, DSBP is going to see if he can find out the type of stainless used on the brackets - I'll keep you posted once/if I hear more. We also talked about the bracket design and he felt confident that the weight of the box (and the limited contents you could fit in there) shouldn't overly stress the brackets, but definitely wants to hear if there are any issues. Great idea on key blanks, too....he's going to check availability from his lock supplier. Also, sent you a PM.

Firefight911, let me know if you've gotten a chance to do a test fit? DSBP is open to working on a revised bracket if we can get some measurements/photos/etc.

PatrickG450, I haven't been able to get a lot of good pictures and measurements for the H-B racks yet. If you can email me some to sales AT advmotorrad DOT com, I'll pass them along to DSBP and see if we can get you fitted up!

I should have 5 of the "high clearance" SW-Motech/Trax box arriving next (3 are already pre-sold) and will have about 18 left of the OEM fitment. If you're interested in adding a toolbox to your S10, please let me know! DSBP will be closed till mid-February so I won't be able to replenish stock till later next month, but will keep the website updated with availability. They have five new products in the development pipeline for the Super Tenere for release in the very near future that I think you guys will like!

Thanks again...

Jason

Hi Offcamber - I'm going to connect with DSBP this morning for an update. I know they had made some additional changes to try and improve the fit and caliper clearance on the SW-Motech/Trax application, and will check if it cleared final testing. I'll let you know (as well as any other folks that have pending orders for Trax-specific boxes) later this afternoon.

Thanks!

Mine arrived today. Mounted it up and it rubs against the pannier. Remounted it and changed the brackets position on the bolts to move it away from the pannier. Hope iit clears the caliper ..... anybody else have thoughts on this?

Cheers

Hi Mark - can you send me a few pictures of how it's mounted and we'll see if we can get you sorted out? Email address is jason DOT smith AT advmotorrad DOT com.

Thanks!

Does anyone think that this toolbox could be used as a support for soft luggage? I am thinking of getting a pair of the NR CL-850 soft bags and was wondering if it would be strong enough to support a fully loaded bag on that side of the bike. It looks like it would be a perfect thing for keeping bag symmetry for the rear of the bike with the other side using a "protected" muffler guard. Any input would be appreciated.

I would not do it under any circumstance. The design is not conducive to load bearing beyond the contents of what are inside the case itself.

The mounting set up would need to be changed from its current configuration to something much more capable of supporting weight and then I think it would not be an adequate alternative to a more robust skeletal frame set up.

I agree, the toolbox is designed to hang from its mounts. They're not intended to take any lateral force at all and I'm not sure it could be easily adapted to do so. IMHO.

Hi BHTENERE! As some of the other members have rightly said, I wouldn't recommend using the toolbox as support for a soft bag. I do have Holan pannier racks available that could be used for soft bag support, as well as an upgrade path to aluminum panniers down the road if you choose.

As a fellow NY'er, I'm sure you're counting the days till the snow melts and riding season begins - I know I am! :D

Thanks....

Hey Offcamber! I was actually just checking on that with DS Bike. He's got the revised rear Touratech bracket completed and is going to starting on the Trax-specific boxes shortly. He also has a few new parts for the Super Tenere that I will be posting up soon.

As soon as I get a more definitive date, I'll let you know. Feel free to email directly at sales AT advmotorrad DOT com with any questions.

Thanks!

Jason

Now I am back from my big Death Valley all dirt trip I can carve some time to work on getting this mounted with the Touratech setup. Just wanted to post so y'all know I haven't forgotten. There was just too much work with angles and getting material to do this before I left.
