For thost patient individuals that have dutifully waited for the arrival of the SW-Motech/Trax raid toolboxes...your wait is finally over. :D We received our first shipment of 10 of the SW-Motech/Trax boxes, and have already boxed and shipped all orders that were pending inventory. We've got 5 left in stock right now, so if you've been waiting for them to arrive before placing your order - they're here!

By design, the box is slightly smaller than the OEM box due to space constraints with the SW-Motech rack and crossbrace placement. DSBP has achieved a nice balance of clearance from the caliper and pannier rack, as well as capacity to carry tools and spares. Here are a few pics to whet your appetite of the final design....any questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Jason

Hey JonnyCinco! Not sure why you didn't get the email, but it's definitely on the way. :) I just resent the shipping confirmation from the webstore and will PM you the tracking number as well....given that you're on the east coast, it will probably get there by tomorrow or Thursday.

Thanks!

Jason

Got my tool box installed...did I do something wrong...the back of the tool box hits the stock tail light. and you have to pull it up and out of the way to get the key in and remove the door. I noticed int he pics they used aftermarket tail lights...The fact I have to move the light up to open the door is no big deal but I'm more concerned with it rubbing a hole in my tail light.

Any suggestions? Looking through the whole thread it looks like it hits others as well. I know an excuse to upgrade the taillights.

Or just fit the door the other way up.

Hey offcamber - can you shoot a picture from the top down so I can see the positioning of the front and rear brackets? I'll get these pictures to DSBP and see if he has any thoughts, but am wondering if the USDM turn signals are causing grief.

Thanks!

Jason

Jason, I sent you pictures showing the turnsignal clearance problem when I was trying to install my toolbox for the OEM panniers. It is the exact same problem. The problem should be simply corrected by relocating the holes/slots in the bracket. While they are doing that they should consider indexing the holes/slots. I mentioned this same problem/concern when I was trying to install my toolbox.

The turn signal moves during riding and hits the toolbox especially during off road riding. This problem/concern comes from the toolbox being developed with a European Tenere that uses the smaller LED turn signals. The solution is to correct the CNC plan by moving the bolt holes .250" forward. All four of the bolt holes should to be indexed. No material cost to the manufacturer.

I think if they modified the front bracket to allow the box to slide forward more would solve the issue as well. I f you look in my pic above there is plenty of room on the rear bracket to slide forward but the angle of the front bracket won't allow it....maybe just making the front bracket a little shorter??.

I'm surprised they use different oem turn signals on the European bikes - I assumed they were after market. I don't know why Yamaha would change the spec for North American bikes, but that would certainly explain the tight fit.

Yamaha didn't change the lights, government regulation did.

It is a bad picture for this discussion but the bolt holes are not indexed/paired properly. If you slide the toolbox in either direction both bolts (each bracket) do not touch the end of the bolt hole/slot. It is a simple fix. Wonder if TRD is doing their engineering :D (NASCAR joke)

Yep, the US spec signals look like somebody heated up the Euros, then pumped air into them until they ballooned into those bulbous looking things. :D
