Just rode home in light rain in stop and go traffic. Bike runs like crap from idle to 2K RPM. Surged bucked and popped right of idle in the heavy traffic. Acted like it was going to stall a couple times. Jaxon I am using the map you sent me a couple days ago.

Any suggestions?
I just mapped mine last night and it's doing some similar things. When I come off idle in traffic it sounds like it's shooting fire out the back. I just installed the Arrow header and I believe a lot of the popping is from that but I'm sure some is from the new map.

Didn't you just add the Arrow header? Did you drive it before you re-mapped it and if so how did it run?

If you want other maps to try I can send them to you.... All new PCV owners will need to ride the bike a bit to start to let AT do its thing... But I never had any back fire or loud pop's.... Make sure you do have the AT "on"... make sure the time and the heat are not both checked "on".. You can only have one turned on... I like the time (60 sec).. and then the parameters I like to start off at 30.. Make sure to save and send that to the bike.. And try another map......

Ive been running 89 fuel for a while so the 'jaxon' maps are on 89.... Auto tune should tune for 91/93 but will take a little time.....

Guys it would help if you posted what you have done to your bikes. What can, headers, ect. Also make sure you have the little black plastic termination plug in the Auto Tune or PCV.

AKRA can, arrow header, stock air cleaner, Jaxon's latest map. The Auto Tune is working. Bike idles perfect and runs perfect over 2k. Seems the problem is when the throttle is turned a very small amount off idle. Once the throttle starts to get turned more everything is fine.

Not sure this is the issue or not, but the next time the bike is warmed up to operating temperature, connect the PCV to your computer and check the idle speed and throtttle position as shown on the computer. Idle should be 1100 rpm but the more important thing is that the throttle position is reading 0 percent. If its anyhting other, the TPS may need to be synced. Now, I will tell you, there is some disagreement depending on who you talk to here and at Dynojet whether a Fly by wire throttle can be synced without the use of a dyno...some say yes, some say no. You have been warned. I have not done a TPS sync.

Hope you sort it out.

Do you have the Rt TB open 3/4 and the left synced to that?
What numbers do you have at 2% for 1,000 and 1,250?
What numbers are in the first line of the closed loop?

TB's are how ever they came from the factory. I am a novice with Power Commanders. If you PM me your email address I'll send you the map I loaded to look at.

Thanks, I'll try this next time I ride the bike and it is fully warmed up. They are calling for nasty thunder storms here tomorrow so I will be riding the might KLR to work tomorrow.

Did not ride the bike after installing the header prior to installing the PCV and Auto Tune. Feels like a mapping issue to me. Time will tell.

You have a PM.
This could be part of your problem, or all of it. YamaPA has a good point and that needs to be checked.

You added a full exhaust, high flow filter, PCV plus auto tune and then put in 89  Why do all that and not take advantage of more octane.

I would prefer not to get into a technical fuel debate, but 89 in more volatile than 91-93 Etc... 86 is better than 89 Etc.... (per certain engine requirements- not for all engines) Its really determined my compression & timing. They utilize octane to retard the volatility of the fuel so it can be ignited with out detonating. Detonation is bad for the pistons, wrist pins and rods.. Lower octane DOES NOT mean a lesser quality fuel. IMOP the bike is going to run just fine on 86-89.... Why the hell would Yamaha build a ADV bike to ride to Mexico, Alaska, Africa, Russia, Etc and require it to run only on 93... nonsense in my opinion.. If Yamaha is "requiring" us to only use 93 I guess that will limit MANY people using the bike that it was intended to be used for around the world.. IMOP, the 93 is needed to be used to pass emissions by the epa, and used in conjunction with certain RPM's to acquire a heat range (exhaust/cat) to make the Gov happy...
Also, the PCV doesn't mess with timing. If we could advance or retard the timing we could easily run 86 or 93 for best performance. So we are stuck with the stock compression and the stock ECM timing. With the PCV it will control the pulse & width of the injection pulse along with manipulation of AFR. With the 89 I have excellent throttle response and an awesome running machine...

I agree with Jaxon on this 100%. I could never tell the difference in power between the two. The only difference I did see, was in fuel mileage. On my bike the 93 would get a little better mileage. Not enough to offset the cost.

The part number for it is 76423025 and it is a $6 part plus shipping and handling in case you lost/misplaced it.

I don't have on on my computer, but this should work. Open this PDF file and in the first picture, look for the red auto tune box and then look just below it.
The small black part on the left is the termination plug. The other two are rubber plugs used to seal openings.
