So I know that I already bought the shock, but I'm out riding with Anthony and the difference is just amazing. Just got off of Anthony's S10 and I don't want to give it back. The money is definitely worth it, more than anything else I have done to the bike. I can't wait to get my shock.

Trust me, I was READY to give you your bike back once we started moving. I can't believe how out of control the stock shock feels. I know you had the preload cranked and the rebound set to full hard. The shock was still a hot mess. I was bouncing all over the place. You were just motoring away calmly and I was risking life and limb to try to keep up.swampyvt said:

1st order is IN AND CONFIRMED with Penske.
Projected production completion is June 14th for this first batch. That is the projected arrival at Stoltec Moto in Bangor, PA. Arrival to us will be dependant on UPS/FEDEX from there.
Anyone on the fence, May 31st is the final cutoff for Penske Tenere shocks this summer. We were very fortunate to catch Penske BEFORE the real summer rush. That was the purpose of the 2 "waves" of production. Orders after the group buy period will most likely see a significant increase in lead time.
Now is the time! ~40 people were interested. 7 have committed. Time to pony-up!

I don't know what Penske's pricing looks like, but I've seen both Penske and Stoltec Moto shops. These are grassroots organizations - in every sense of the word, if you get my drift. Passionate motorcyclists working hard to share their passion with other motorcyclists.
As a result, you won't see Penske products offered from Yamaha, but this is a GOOD thing! You won't find a Penske shock for a Tenere "in stock" or "sitting on shelf" anywhere. This is a custom ordered product. Each is made to order, one at a time. The spring selection and baseline damping is set for each customer. Part of the reason I chose Penske is the personalized product and customer support.
With this group buy, we have an exclusive production window set aside. The 7 members that have paid already will have their shocks mid/end of June. Those that pay by 5/31 will have their shocks early/mid July.
Once these production windows close, the lead times will be much longer. Realize Penske has a significant presence in motorcycle racing and trackdays. The summer is the prime of their season supporting CCS racers and trackday addicts.
If you want a Penske shock for your Tenere this summer, the group buy is the best chance you have. Saving few bucks shouldn't hurt either.

I am sure that is true of ANY group buy. I just watched the Baja light group buy. The discount there was GREAT...but I felt the exact same thing you are. Now I am seeing all of the posts from the guys who bit anyways and wishing I had those sweet lights. Now I just get to pay more for them.sportrider said:

I don't think 50% discounts are POSSIBLE for a "group buy". I would be hard-pressed to believe either Penske or Stoltec are making 50% between the 2 of them. I would venture to say you MIGHT have gotten a discount like that since you have 14 bikes. At that point it is "sponsorship" not a "group buy".
Either way, let's not waste this thread "arguing" over the value. There is nothing either one of us can do to change it. Anyone else that wanted to discuss the "value" did so with me personally in a PM.
