Stoltec Penske Shock and Fork Mods

Spent the day with Nick at Stoltec. He installed the Penske shock, new fork springs and valves. Then Nick worked his suspension tuning magic dialing the bike in just for me.

All I can say is

WOW! HOLY COW! FOOKIN FANTASTIC! ::012:: ::012:: ::012::

The bike is transformed.

With the stock suspension I could feel every ripple in the road. Nothing harsh but I knew they were there. Now I dont feel those little ripples at all. Bigger bumps the bike just soaks them up. The roads from my house to Nicks have some nasty frost heaves. A couple of them would pitch the bike pretty good with the stock suspension. Lift my ass off the seat. No more!!

And now the best part.
Cornering is super. The bike is completely neutral. Just point it and go. Feels like its on rails.

Well worth the investment. I am completely satisfied.
Nick is a super nice guy and will work with you to optimize the suspension for you. Whether you install yourself or have Nick do it. If you are within range of Nick's place in Bangor you should strongly consider making the trip and having Nick do the install and optimization. I arrvied at Nick's @8am and was driving home @ 3pm.

Darn you guys! Don't give any extra motivation to farkle. For my use, I'm OK with the OEM setup except for when I'm doing about a 160kph on the slab. The front get's kinda 'bouncey' over any bumps at that speed...epecially when shod with K60s :D For that reason, I'd have the forks done first.

Yeah, I was pretty much fine with my setup stock (well modified springs), but just decided to go with the full deal. I have to admit it was time to refresh the forks, gray gooey mess in there, but it worked fine.

I am very impressed with the ride now, I used to feel the little bumps and uneven pavement, but now it just goes right over. After a while you get used to it and tend to forget how it used to bounce at those spots. The OEM shock was pretty good, but the Penske is in another class for sure.

Great observation. After 5k miles I became complacent with my Penske suspension from Stoltec. Then I rode SwampyVT's bike while he was test riding mine with the suspension. Needless to say I couldn't give him his stock bike back fast enough and he called Nick that day and ordered a full deal.

Amen to that, Brudda'! Amen to that!

I gotta' tell ya' AVC8130... Thanks for doing the point work with Nick Stolten at Stoltec Moto to get the ball rolling for his Penske set-up F & R for the Super Ténéré. I may have missed the "Group Buy" deal, but it doesn't matter. The money was arguably the very best coinage I have ever spent on my S-10. My suspension was *TIRED* at 20+-K miles when Nick did mine, and I honestly hadn't noticed the subtle but steady degradation over those miles. To say Nick's stuff transformed the bike would be an understatement...

And I got to get to know a really great guy - Nick Stolten - in the bargain. His advice was spot-on in each and every thing he told me, he delivered everything exactly when he said he would, and he even set me up for the will-be-needed fork bushing replacement here in another 10- to 12-K miles or so. I couldn't be happier.

Folks, if you have been sittin' on the fence on this one, waitin' and wonderin' - Don't. Especially if you have some miles on your Super Ténéré and it's about time for some fork maintenance. Stoltec's Penske shock and custom springing for the rear, and Penske valving and custom springing for the front, will be something you never regret investing in. ::008:: ::008:: ::008::

Just my two centavos...
