Hi carrot - here's some pictures of the new design. We actually didn't know there was a pending change until we received the last order of bars, so it was a bit of a surprise to us too! The front clamp section is still the same, with the rear mounting point moved from the frame to the top of the OEM lower crashbars (a U-shape "captures" the OEM crashbar). It does seem to provide additional knee clearance which was one of the issues for some with the original design, so seems like a good update. I do need to swap out the pictures on our site, as they currently show the old style mount.

Here are some pictures - if I get better shots I'll post 'em up!

I wonder why I can't ever see any pictures you post. :'(

Hi HHH - sorry about that! Not sure why that's the case...only thing I can think of is if you're accessing it from work, maybe there's a web filter for photo hosting sites? I had a similar problem at a former job...made it tougher to farkle my bike on lunch break. :D

Let me know if there's anything specific you're looking for and I can forward pics to your email, or send you links to our photo gallery.

Thanks!

Do you know when these will be back in stock?
Hi TheHelios....we're starting to see items that have been on backorder coming in, and I know more shipments are queued up. My guess is 30-60 days, but I can confirm here once I get the shipping details and contents from DS Bike. I do have a couple of sets on pre-order already, so those orders would be filled first, with any remaining stock available for inventory.

Any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

The sooner, the better. :) Just placed my order.

Do I get free stickers with it? I need more stickers. Can't get enough stickers.

Thanks guys - I'll update the post when we get more stock from Spain! I haven't seen any stickers arrive with the DSbike shipments, but will make mention of it in case he'd like some free advertising. :D

Thanks again....

Hey rotary, any update of when you expect them to arrive at your warehouse? Had a nice fall in sand today and it pushed the fan into the radiator, jamming it, and burned out. Pretty sure these bars would've saved me. :)

Also, I'm looking for ADV Motorrad stickers, not DS Bike. I've got to rep somebody somewhat local.

Well crap....sorry to hear that. Hopefully the radiator is okay and you can get the fan swapped out for a reasonable price. I'm waiting on confirmation, but am hoping to see a commercial invoice for our next shipment from Spain by next week. Once it's en route, we usually get parts in 5-7 days, so shouldn't be too much longer before we get your Tenere "up-armored".

ADVM stickers are one of those projects that keeps getting back-burnered, but will be happy to make them available as soon as I get off my duff and get them made! :D

Thanks.....

Hey TheHelios - sorry, haven't forgotten about you! I had pinged DS Bike on Monday asking for status and will follow up with another note tonight to see if I can get a definitive date. We've got a few pre-orders for bars (including yours) that are prioritized to ship as soon as we get more stock....just need to get 'em here! :-[

Thanks...

FINALLY cleared US Customs yesterday! After all pre-orders are filled, I should still have a couple sets left in stock.

Thanks!

Just wondering what the thoughts are of those of you who have this item, especially the revised model. Will it be strong enough to protect the panels and does it look odd and added on or does it blend in nicely. Bit concerned the "u" connection and bolt at the back end may look a bit like an afterthought.
Any views welcome please guys

Just put a set on my 013, 10 -15 min job, look factory and they appear like they should protect the goods. Hopefully I won't find out .....but one never knows.

I wish I could say the same.
I ordered mine and received them a week after Easter. In fairness Rotary Racer had said the set he had left was cosmetically challenged and he would knock the price down slightly (that didn't happen).

Because of my travel schedule I wasn't able to get to installing them until last Saturday.
First look at them after getting the box open - Minor shipping marks (scuffing) and stuff in the paint. Not a biggie to me - I expect the bars are going to get beat up.

Mounting them up...we have some show stoppers.

The first issue - Neither bar clamp end is machined large enough to fit on my Yamaha bars. They aren't even close. It appears they were roughed out and then just painted to get them out the door. That would be both left and right bars. ::010::

Second issue - the left bar 'U' is bent just enough where it will need to be beaten to mount up.

Third issue - One of the clamps isn't threaded all the way through. Not 'the threads are buggered up a little' or there's some paint in there. Nope. It's drilled and then threaded about half way.

These aren't 'cosmetic issues'.

Anyhow all of these things are fixable. But a couple hundred dollars should get me something that is at least finished properly and at least was looked at before it got shipped to me.

IOW I shouldn't have to fix it. And shame on ADVMottorad for either not looking at this stuff or seeing it and still selling it to me.
Right now the bars are sitting in my shop. Not sure if I want to fix them or cut them into semi-usable scrap for other projects.

I'm happy all you other guys got good merchandise from him. I did not and, will not do business with him again.

Uhhh, have you attempted to contact them and see if any reconciliation can be made? This is an issue on DS Bike's side and not ADVM. ADVM can't buy a product from manufacturer and test each individual unit to make sure it fits but they can for sure work with you to get you a replacement.

Anyway, I got the upper crash bars a couple weeks back. The clamps that mount on the front of the bike are sure as hell going to strip the paint off the bars (and already were). I've dropped the bike a couple times on both sides but the crash bars still fit on without issue. I'm not really sure if they will withstand being dropped more than once but time will tell.

Timmeh, while I can appreciate your frustration, if you would've contacted us, I would have been more than happy to help. I don't have any emails or communications past our last interaction on April 3rd, when I let you know that the last set of bars I had in stock was scuffed and that I would take 10% off your next order. I can resend the email from our ticketing system if it would help.

This sounds like it was a one-off manufacturing issue and is easily resolved by contacting us, explaining the situation, and sending some pictures so we can confirm it's a manufacturing issue and not installer error. The bars are pretty straightforward to install so while I doubt it's installation error, our manufacturers like to see for themselves before they approve a replacement.

With regards to "looking" at products before shipping, it's not practicable to open, inspect, and pre-install every product we receive from our manufacturers before shipping to customers. We do not fabricate the parts ourselves - we import, distribute, and sell them, and handle warranty support when required.

I'm disappointed you won't do business with us again, and more so because we would've bent over backwards to fix this for you if we would've known about it. I will still warranty the product if you send an email to support AT advmotorrad DOT com and attach pictures showing the issues described.

Regards,

Regards,
Jason - in our conversations you had said that the bars were damaged from a cosmetic stand point. That implies you looked at the bars you sent me. There was some pretty obvious issues with them beyond merely cosmetic.
(A company I sometimes do work for brings in items from Eastern Europe. They check EVERYTHING that they are going to sell. EVERYTHING.)

And to the poster who said it wasn't an ADVM issue - it most certainly IS their issue. They sell it, they are the face of the overseas manufacturer, they take the money, etc.

Beyond this I won't say anything more about it. I'd be happy to send ADVM some pics and descriptions of what the issues are.

Again, I'm happy that most got a good product from them. I simply didn't. No harm no foul.
