old thread revival here.................

So at the rally I saw a set of these and will make it a want item for Xmas. You know I buy them, give them to my wife, she shows the kids, they wrap them and I get to act surprised Xmas morning.

Good read on the previous posts. Have you ever dealt with any other skid plates? I ask because I was donated an Alt rider that I am currently tweaking for install. OH yea saw some scratch and dents but they look different than these, still have them?

The beauty of these is that they bolt to the Yamaha crash bars. So, you'd need to already have Yamaha crash bars before you would have any place to attach these to the front hoop.

That means to answer your skid plate question, you just need to know if the AltRider skid plate is compatible with the Yamaha crash bars. I don't see that these add on bars would interfere in any way with the skid plate mounting. Great price point, assuming you already have the Yamaha crash bars.

oh yea to be clear I already have the OEM bars. I like them, had I not lowered my bike I would have gone Rumbux.

Rumux does offer a add on upper bar, but it's significantly more expensive than the DSBP offering. Different mounting method.

I doubt you remember me but we talked quite a bit a year or so ago. I think the Rumbux is a good product, unless you are a short dood like me. The lowering links make it too close for me.

Rumux add on bars replace the Yamaha upper hoop only, so no changes the ground clearance.

Hi patrickg450 - happy to get you setup! I've got a few sets of bars in stock now that picked up some cosmetic scratches in the powdercoat on their way from Spain. If you plan on using the crashbars as they were meant to be used, or don't mind a scratch or two to save some bucks, we have them listed in our bargain outlet here:

http://www.advmotorrad.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=111&product_id=522

The bars are a nice add-on to give you some upper protection if you already have the OEM crashbars. If you'd prefer to wait for a "factory first" (unscratched) set, I can check when our next shipment is due in.

Speaking of Rumbux, I did have a chance to see the full crashbar setup when S10EastTN brought his 2014 ES in and was super impressed....really nice build quality and protection. ::008::

Sadly I had to get rid of mine. They are OK solo, but touring two up and me being over 6'1" my knees where up against them, or I had to ride with my knees out side of them.

My guess is we might not have more for a couple of months, but will depend on stock. Unfortunately, due to the freight guys getting a little overzealous with the boxes, I only got one or two sets through in our last shipment unscathed. I can get some pictures of the scratches on Monday...they're really not too bad, but I always want to set the right expectation (and probably be a bit conservative) before sending 'em out the door. :)

We do have the Holan headlight guards in stock, and they are probably one of the more popular items for the S10 we sell. Quick and easy bolt-on that provides great protection for a reasonable price.

For those that don't have the OEM bars yet, I also do have one set of SW-MOTECH bars that are an uninstalled "open box" product with a scratch on the bar. The scratched area would actually be hidden when installed, so a good chance to save some loot! Check out our bargain outlet for more info....

Thanks!

I got these crash bars and they kick ass!! Great product!! Like it more then the Altrider due to not being bolted to the front engine mounts. Less stress on engine mounts mean longevity!

These work fine!!

Thanks Boulder - much appreciated!

We're all sold out of crashbars (both "factory fresh" and "cosmetically challenged") at the moment, but have more on order from Spain. Any questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

I installed my "cosmetically challenged" (looked great to me) upper crashbars onto the Yamaha engine guard. The new design with the relocation of the rear mount back onto the OEM guard is a great improvement, it totally eliminates any issues with the previous complaints of the bars being close to your knees. It also keeps the bar off of the frame mounting location, which could transfer energy to an expensive spot to repair.

I also use my upper bars to throw my legs on, bonus- comfy and no additional highway pegs needed. It will also created a good mounting spot for my aux. lights.

I realize this is not a Rumbux solution, but my S10 is not going rock hopping either. I'll use the DRZ for that. It is, however, a great solution if you already have the OEM engine guards and want to improve upon that design.

Thanks rotaryracer for a good product in design and delivery.

I didn't know that their was a design change could someone post some pics of the new design
Hi carrot - here's some pictures of the new design. We actually didn't know there was a pending change until we received the last order of bars, so it was a bit of a surprise to us too! The front clamp section is still the same, with the rear mounting point moved from the frame to the top of the OEM lower crashbars (a U-shape "captures" the OEM crashbar). It does seem to provide additional knee clearance which was one of the issues for some with the original design, so seems like a good update. I do need to swap out the pictures on our site, as they currently show the old style mount.

Here are some pictures - if I get better shots I'll post 'em up!
