It would only be available to the original purchaser. So if someone stepped in and got someone elses spot in line they would not be eligible for the cash voucher.

You also have to look at it this way, if you bought your spot in line after the program ended your lucky to be getting a bike this go around anyway.

Tony
My sentiments exactly, being late to the game I am just glad I could get one in August. I have only waited a couple months. The original PDPs deserve the reward.

I bet if a few people on her got these coupons at demo days they compare the serial #'s on them I bet they are all the same #. If they are could some one post up the serial # and we all could take benefit on this deal :)

Actually, Tony, another way to look at it is that I have a piece of paper worth up to $200 when I buy a new Yamaha product. While I might not get $200 it for buying an XT1200Z, I could buy a new VMax or VStar instead and get cash back. I would also have the option to offer that piece of paper to someone else who could use it to get $200 cash back if he buys an XT1200Z. And a cool dealership (perhaps one in Longview, TX, a short ride from Houston) might be impressed by such an act of generosity toward a total stranger...and that same dealership could could offer me an additional $200 off my XT1200Z purchase to reward my generosity. ;)

How so? The serial number by itself is worth nothing - you need the actual coupon. Yamaha specifically says the offer is void if the coupon is not the original.

You have to mail the coupon into them? If you do everything through the web site and don't have to mail anything into them how would they know. I looked at the website and you have to enter in the code on the coupon then you get in. it seems like everything is done online, but I can not tell coz i never got a coupon at any demo days I went to. :( :'(

Yes, perhaps you're right and it's all done online through the serial numbers. (They may have you send in the coupon later in the process though.) If so, those numbers are a valuable commodity. But I bet they're not all the same and I doubt any number can be used twice.

It doesn't say specifically that you have to send it to them, but there is a whole lot of language about it being void if counterfeited, mutilated, altered or tampered with in any way... which would lead me to conclude that they will have to see it at some point. It's more than just entering the serial number in the web site. I reckon there will be further instructions once you do that.

Each coupon has its own serial number. If someone were to share that number and someone else used that number to claim their $200 after buying their bike, the person who shared that number would be SOL.

It also says your dealer has to do the warranty register and you have 30 days to claim the cash back.

I think the conclusion is that you've got to have a unique/unused serial number, may have to physically have the coupon, and that you have to be person of record with respect to the initial warranty registration. Notwithstanding Yamaha generalizing this program or sending us all coupons to reward us for our wait, I don't see much chance us taking advantage of this unless we happened to be one of the lucky ones getting one of these coupons at an event.

I just got off the phone with Yamaha USA. Talked about the coupon. He said the only way to have received one, was at the Demos. I mentioned that I was at two and never was given one nor did I see one.
He said, he would see what he could do. I gave my cell number and email. We'll see.

Also mentioned the fact that Canada was informed about their bikes and where they were. He said they were a different company, yada, yada. Then we talked about how it was possible, that Canada was more concerned about their customers, then Yamaha USA. Yada, yada, yada.
He said he would look into this and see what he could do.
I am hoping for a return call or email, but won't hold my breath..

At least it was good venting... Nicely...

** DISCLAIMER**
Any information I provide in this posting is for the purpose of discussion. What you do with the information is your choice, and I claim NO RESPONSIBILITY for what anyone else does with this information (e.g., trying to get cash back without having a coupon).

I recently went to a demo and got a coupon from a district sales manager (I think that's what he said he is). He had a few more coupons with him, and while we talked I saw a different serial number than mine on another coupon. I told him my situation (did not order a bike in the PDP but planned to take over an abandoned PDP order if I could find one) and he told me it would be fine as long as I bought a new Yamaha before 12/31/11. Why would he give me a coupon if he knew it would go to waste? Then again, he's a sales guy...

I checked the website listed (www.yamaha-motor.com/cashback) and entered my serial number with two numbers reversed and clicked the submit button. It brought me to a screen where I could enter personal information (Name, Address, etc) and VIN #, presumably for Yamaha to verify my purchase and know where to send a refund check. At that point I figured my coupon was probably good and that I could most likely enter dozens of different numbers and get the same result. I never clicked the submit button on that screen, so I don't know what comes next...I didn't want to mess with the codes because it might affect someone else's cash back potential.

Being the curious type, I tried a whole bunch of different number combinations (my code is a six digit-number) to see what would happen. Ten minutes later, I discovered the following two things were required to get to the information screen:

1) The code has to be a six-digit number
2) The code has to start with a "2" or a "5"

Anything I tried that didn't have both of the above two things would send me to a screen saying the promotion was over.

Again, I'm just saying what I did and what I saw...YMMV O:)

dcstrom - if anybody deserves cash back on this bike it's You. All the promo you do for the bike, your new website, both here and at the ADV site - Yamaha should reward you. But - crap I can't get a break on this bike!! I'm ready to start some kinda support group, this has drug on so long.

I'll confess, just for fun though, I followed the link in Your post for the $200.00 promo reward. At the Yamaha website I made up a number which I started with an H......and it took me to a page that said the " Recreational Vehicle" promotion is over. Darn - that could have been some nice Promo money - cash back on an RV would sure beat cash back on a Tenere - eh? :D :D

Sorry Yamaha to screw with your website that like - its not like me to do these things. Just getting desperate for entertainment I spose".

This is sorta humorous, Right now I would be willing to pay Yamaha for a firm arrival date so I can start making plans to abuse my new bike :'(
