Thanks - much appreciated. Yes, I'm waiting now on the ELFR-1 relay to arrive.

correct, with the ELFR-1 no resistors have to/should be used, but if one resistor on each side is not used with OEM relay, flashers won't work

Noted, and thanks. I wasn't going to hit the ignition until the new relay is in - for the reason you mention - just doing the wiring / soldering now.

I'm in the process of installing the Touratech LED kit. It's a nice kit (and should be for what it costs). I'm a bit confused that the only way to retain the standard flash timing is to install 2 resistors inline of each other, otherwise it's too fast. The kit comes with six resistors, not eight like I would've imagined if it required 2 per blinker.

Perhaps I'm missing something obvious....

Karson, you are missing something. You will need to use the ELFR-1 LED Flasher Relay where you disconnect the one from factory and plug in this one. YOu won't be needing or using the resistors. If you don't believe me, skim through this whole thread. Jaxon - Tabasco just encountered this same issue after installing the resistors and they stopped working properly. Search ELFR-1 on google for source if you can't find it on first couple pages.

Yep... 100%... don't mess with any of those resistors.. On our US bikes there is some type of issue. I was chasing my tail for a few months.. Just get the new LED flasher relay, plug it in and be done.. They have worked perfect from that day on .. !!!! ::012::

IS there any consensus on the best LED blinkers?

I am tempted to go for the Yamaha blinkers with the ELFR.
But we can't get them in USA so I would need to order from UK or Canada.

TT seems stupid expensive.

The Ebay stuff just has too many questions for me.

That's where I was... We have at out disposal a TON of LED lights to offer.. I broke down and got the Yamaha ones from Europe. That was "fun"... I will say that the 'Yamaha' ones are probably made in China along with 95% of the rest of the LED blinkers on the market. I thought that the Yamaha blinkers would be the best rout to not have any issues with blinking, Etc.... I was wrong.. If I had to do over, I would just get some 'cheapies' along with the ELFR and be done with it.... Save a lot of time and money... Just my $ .02 There are LED blinkers that look similar to the Yamaha ones for $25-30 bucks out there...

Just purchased the ELFR-1 so I can be done with it. I'm about to leave on a week long trip to San Francisco and figured I'd knock the install out today before I left, now the bike is disassembled until this saga continues when I get back.

I concur with Jaxon in saying 95% of the LED blinkers are Chinese made. I went with TT under the illusion it would be plug and play after looking at the instructions (very limited). I was wrong and I'm still going to have to do my own wiring, albeit about as basic as it comes. The only convenience is the mounting plate hardware is included.

Knowing what I know now, I'd send the whole thing back to TT and buy the LED's off eBay and reimburse someone to fabricate the oval mounting plates. ::010:: ::010:: ::010::

These same blinkers are what ship with the TT package - right down the the imprinting on the lens.

Karson, I made a little oval insert to go in the OEM rubber housing, one on the outer side and one on the inner as well. I just did it with tin snips, file and pice of aluminum from Home Depot, drilled a few holes into it and bolted it back together so it looks remotely like stock.

Anyone found a nice set of LED turn signals that are:

1) somewhat smaller than stock (but not teeny-tiny, they need to be visible afterall)

2) are flexible

3) have the running light function like the stock front turn signals

4) match up (reasonably well) to the OEM mounting style

5) not junk

This is exactly what I am looking for.

Must be something available out there. If not maybe we can come up with something.

I believe the "flexible" requirement will be the difficulty.

Seems to be lots of cheap stuff available, but none of them flexible.

I will never understand how Touratech gets away with something like their pricing on these signals. The BMW crowd is just stupid for TT stuff at hugely inflated prices. All just making Mr. Herbert Schwarz rich. I guess that makes HIM the smart one.

I purchased these DMP signals - see link below....

http://www.surfsidemoto.com/store/product/DMP900-0030.html#.T_43oY50XJw

After purchasing I realized that I needed backing plates, so since I did not want to hassle with making some, I returned them and bought the Yamaha ones that came with everything. But later I learned that you can get the backing plates (don't remember where) for around $10 and they were the correct shape.

The DMP blinkers were the "Arrow Black" design and are slightly larger than the Yamaha ones. Don't think they had an extra wire for the running lights. Funny as two were made in China and two from Taiwan.

Also the ELFR-1 is the only way to go, just plug and play.

Are the Yamaha LED blinkers "flexible".

Not a rigid stalk, but a rubberized stalk like the stock blinkers?

So they do not break readily, but rather have a little give. So that in an encounter with a bush for example it will bend but not break.

Yes they have a rubberized stalk and are flexible but not as flimsy as the stock blinkers.

Just paid for two sets of these ... US$0.99 + US$10 for sipping ... less than $30 for both sets ... ordering an ELFR-1 next.

Going to have the 15 y.o. put his mad engineering skills to work on the CAD program and see if he can have conjur up some mounting plates unless someone can point to a cheap source for those.

The stockers work but if they are as durable as the Vstrom ones in a tip over I'll be needing replacements any day now ???

OK then it's decided for me.

Will be the Yamaha LED's with the ELFR.

The only other one I might check out before I buy are the ones from Off The Road in Germany.
Looks to be a complete kit with all 4 turn signals, anodized adapter plates and a flasher relay for 80 Euros / $100 American.
Cant tell for sure from the website if they are flexible stalks.

I was recently told my LEd signals like TouraTech aren't very visible in the daylight. Are the Yammy LED's visble in the daytime? Can someone help with this?
I may want to switch over this coming winter.
