LED Blinker Installatation

I installed LED blinkers on my Tenere, I first installed the rear and no problem, tested and all ok including flasher, I then installed front, tested, signals worked but not flasher or parking lights, the turn signals work fine on all 4.

Some times the parking lights start and alter 6 or 8 flashes they go off, other times they just don't turn on at all. I looked at this forum and there are some problems but others seem to have found solution.

Will I be able to make them work? need some advise.

m not sure the answer to your issues, but I will say that I installed the Yamaha LED blinkers and when you activate going left or right they are kinda screwed up.. Mine sometimes blink fine for awhile and then other times they blink really fast... I have not had time to look at it but they seem to do things on there own.... LOL what the heck ?

You may want to read the WASP thread. He installed these and I think he only used two resistors. Either the front or rear.
Also check all of your connections and grounds.

Thank you DuMar.

Do they sell them in the USA?

How is it connected? everyone of the 4 blinkers has a resistor (I think that is the name), where will the one you recommend is to be installed? on only one of them?

Is there any way to make the ones I bought from Yamaha work?

Yes, made and sold in the USA.

The ELFR-1 replaces the original flasher relay on the bike. It's plug and play ... so just remove the original and plug in the new one. It controls all the turn signals on the bike.

I used the flasher listed above and didn't install any of the resistors. So far I've ridden 5000 miles and never had an issue with the signals.
That's the way to do it.

To me it's a no brainer. There is no sense in installing energy-efficient LED turn signals only to make them inefficient by installing load resistors. A solid state flasher is the best solution IMO. I believe Custom LEDs and Custom Dynamics carry that same flasher.

Thank you all, here is what I have done and what I will do.

I removed all resistors, the blinkers blink 3 times faster than normal, I have already ordered the ELFR-1 , I will replace the flasher that came with the Super Tenere.

AS I was removing the resistors one by one, I tested the blinkers and the parking lights, the resistors that stay on the byke started getting hot, afer removing three of them, the last one got so hot that the plastic wrapper started be become soft, so I removed them all.

Does any body know why the last one got so hot?

I will report back once I install the ELFR-1

Well, just ordered the ELFR1!!! Hmm, now how should i go and get the LED Blinkers? Man, I need to get busy at work and stop ordering stuff online for the bike today!!! This is two things!!! Ok, back to work now!!! Thanks for the ELFR1 info guys. It looks like I can still use this thing with the Standard turn signals.

Which LED turn signals are people happy with? Many of the ones I've seen in the real world are not bright enough to see at a distance in bright sunlight.

I'm thinking about these:

Anyone tried them?
I don't know how handy you are, but four of those same turn signals can be had for around $26 (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Motorcycle-14x-LED-Turn-Signals-Carbon-Fiber-Short-x-4-/280417875947?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item414a3537eb), you just have to be a little creative about how you mount them.

Wiring is pretty simple unless you want to keep the front ones on as running lights, which means an extra relay is required to turn them off to signal rather than on.

I was looking to buy the same ones, then started looking around and was blown away at all the different styles that are out there. It was a hard choice to make, but in the end I settled on a set that I'm pretty sure are not the type you'll see everyday. ::013::

I picked up these little guys from Cycle Gear for $20. I had to do a little work to make them fit but they work great and look even better.

Whats the part number, I'm looking and I don't see an exact match. That does look like the Touratech light they sell for $140.00

Sorry but I have no idea what the part number is. I have a Cycle Gear retail store local and found them their.

If you do get these here is what I did to make them fit. I fabricated of the little thin black plate you see between the light and the fairing plastic. I cut it out of some steel sheet I had sitting in the garage with my Dremel then painted them black. The plate is help in place with 3m automotive double back tape. On the inside I used a large fender washer which I had to drill out with my step drill to except the threaded shank on the light. Once that was done, I just added a little thread lock and bolted it down until snug. Hope this helps.

I just ordered the LED signal assemblies that look almost identical to the TouraTech units. For $60, they have to be a better deal than TT!!!
