Got mine Tuesday, unfortunately haven't had time to open a box. They felt very light though.

I took one of mine down to the local Yamaha dealer today. The posters of the Tenere with Yamaha panniers turned red, then green with envy. It was embarrassing. There was a flurry of activity to take the posters down.
>:D
I apologized for causing so much trouble, and left right away. Hope this doesn't affect my delivery date. R

This is what Yamaha should be putting on their new bikes stock. If your into pure function, this would be the luggage to have.

I'm sure the Yamaha panniers are adequate, but up here, my cost for the Yamaha panniers was actually a little more than the Micatechs. It was a no brainer for me. That's why I took mine by the dealership yesterday. Maybe they will suggest them as an alternative to someone who is looking to add panniers to the bike. Other than the nice cut-out on the left one, there really is no comparison. R

Mine are sitting in the garage. I've been taking them out of the boxes on a daily basis to "play", with them, stroke them, wax them, measure them, load them with my stuff, lock and un-lock them, hug them, etc. My wife is starting to get jealous.

Am I sick or what???

My ALTRider crash bars and skid plate get delivered on Monday. I'm in deep doo doo, now!

I'm going to end up sleeping on the sofa, before this thing is over with. :D

Well, we've grown fond of each other over these past few days and decided to have coffee together this morning. So you see what it can lead to. ;)

I have to have coffee with both, or the other one gets jealous. It becomes a real pannier in the butt. How does he like his coffee? When you put them on the bike, you're gonna have to go outside to do this. Enjoy while you can. R

Good point , I can see now this is going to take some work. Tomorrow we'll do it outside, then maybe one day we can take it out on the road. :)D pannier)

Finally unpacked mine. I ordered a 45 and 37l setup. Overall everything looks good. Didn't unpack the racks as I am likely to loose some screws or something. Opened up both boxes and looked at the quality which is great compared to my old HT setup from the Tiger days (should have kept the Tiger :'( ). As for the utility of the boxes or whether I am better off with these or a standard GIVI setup I cannot say. These are definitely tougher and should survive most anything. On the other hand a Givi will swallow a helmet no prob. I will have to live out of them for a trip or two to give a real impression. At this point all I can say is the locks work, the lid opens, and the quality looks good.

that's the same set up I ordered. The 10" box is huge. It gives me 12 more liters than I have been riding with over the past 4 years. I know I will have plenty of room. I carry a bunch of extra tools, always hoping I never need them.

Yeah I did it that way to be somewhat symmetrical. I could have easily gotten by with 2-37l or even one smaller than the 37. Still thinking about a topbox for around town but I doubt I would need additional capacity on a trip unless I just had the box for helmet security.

In the goodie package that came with the panniers, there is a pack of bits with an instruction sheet called "Trax Alu-Box Adapter Kit". It is for attaching the pannier to the SW rack. There is a little silver thingy that goes on one end .... which way does the angled-in part point? Toward the bike or toward the pannier? I'm assuming it helps fix the pannier to the rack, but I don't quite see how. I guess it will make sense when the time comes. Anyone looked at this yet? :-\ R

after looking at the picture, It appears as though it goes toward to pannier(according to the picture), maybe to the edge? I had the same thought.

Yeah, that's gotta be it. I kind of held it up to the pannier as best I could. But it seems not to really do all that much, especially in a couple of the optional positions. And how do you adjust it once everything is in place? Maybe it's for a different kind of pannier. I'll email Sue Monday and see if she knows any more about it. I mean, a guy wants to be ready. I've only got about ..... never mind. That's depressing. I'm gonna go sulk now. Thanks. R

Sorry for the confusion. That piece you mentioned isn't needed for Micatech panniers. As was said, it is for the SW-Motech Trax boxes. The racks will look something like this with the stainless steel bracket bolted to the upper part of the rack. Hope that helps.

This photo is of a BMW F800GS but you can get the idea.

10-4, I sorta suspected that. Thanks very much. I will discard them with extreme prejudice. R
