Big Dave, I wouldn't mind getting a bracket if you still have extra. What do the brackets look like?

I had a set of Denali D1 lights that I ran on the NT, and I just threw them on straight into a pair of those holes up under the nose. But a proper bracket would be nice. The Denalis are dense little critters to hang on plastic like that.

BD,

I would also be interested in a bracket. I plan to install the D2 lights there.

Well I'm in the midst of adding 4" Competition Accessories HIDs to the Super Ten. Below are some photos of the mock up . I did get waterproof connectors and the Soltek wiring harness. Just have to figure out where to wire in on the 3 prong plug. I think that there will be plenty of clearance so far. Found some 1" KCLites bar tabs to run the lights through for cheap. All total be about $350 for everything. Planning on doing a Dustybutt 1000 next month and some Iron Butt rides next year with the Super Ten.

Katherine

I'm just about to pop up to the post office to dispatch the brackets. As we discussed if they are not what you want please feel free to pass them on to anyone else who might find them useful.
I have not a clue how long delivery will take from the UK but I'm hoping they will be with you when you return from your trip.

All the best

BD

ps just noticed you have a TDM as well, have you checked out carpe-tdm.net ?

I'm think of doing an LED bar under the stock headlights. I've been looking at lazerstar.net, since I know the owner, and currently run his HID Bullet lights on my quad.

I've tried using the "search", but have had no success in answering the following simple question:

By using the stock 3pin connector with the pair of bolt-on OEM accessory lights do they function as running lights (with low beam) or driving lights (with high beam)?

The Custom Accessory 4" HID's have finally been powered up. It was daylight with the garage door open so the lumens aren't super impressive from the photo.

@Ox-34 - What I know is that the red wire is constant 12V ( same as battey's positive terminal). The brown wire is 12V with the ignition switched on. The Black wire is ground. I would assume that unless there is a switch mounted on the handle bar that the OEM lights would function like driving lights. That is unless there is a plug-in 87/85 relay with the headlights.

If you use the oem wiring kit with the switch supplied then the spotlights can be turned on independant of the headlights

I've got the same lights on my ST1300.. IMO.. the best light option out there ...

I was looking for a way to mount them but the one on the left just looked like it would block too much air going into the radiator area. I'll be curious if you feel the bike's fan comes on more than usual.

I would like to know as well about the heat? Can you yet tell if there is any blocking of the inlet that you can tell?

Can't tell yet as it been cooling off here compare to the heat wave earlier. But I will post a close up of the left side.

I don't think that there is any significant compromise of the left hand side. Maybe slightly, but not enough to make a hill of beans. I maybe saying something different next heat wave though we will see. ::018::

Looks like it should be fine...... If the bike where to lay down on the crash bars will the lights plow into the dirt or tarmac, or will they be off the ground? Ive been thinking of adding some type of light just about where you are but Ive been eye-balling it and I dont think I can.. First time the bike goes in the dirt, it looks like I might loose a light... Don't want that..... . ::001::

If the bike goes down hard in the dirt you will be lucky to only lose the light. Probably lose the blinker(s), mirror, plastic cover, windscreen, windscreen bracket . . . Well you get the idea.. They key is to know your limits and try to keep from going down. Though that's not always possible. ::021::

Thanks for the info protondecay123 and Big Dave.

I'm planning on using most of the lights I had on my Blackbird:

The S10 will have 4 x Denalis under the chin of the stock lights, 2 x 4" HIDs out wide like yours and the pair of PIAAs somewhere or other :D

I'll run an Eastern Beaver PC8 and one switch for LEDs and another switch for HIDs, both triggered by the bike's high beam.

In Australia we are regulated so auxiliary driving lights must be switched on with the high beam (with or without their own switch) and fog / running lights can be on with low beam only if they aren't aimed high enough to blind oncoming cars.

JFC! Now that is some light!! Must be great for finding Roo's. I would be very interested in seeing how and where you mount the lights. ::017::
