I have not found an area in Colorado that was not beautiful!!! You have a great state to ride in.

Last year I rode on 149 from 50 to South Fork when the Aspens were turning. That was a sight to see... :)

Not a lot east of I-25, but I certainly agree on your statement of the rest of Colorado.

Ah yes, Slumgullion Pass and Lake City!!! Love it!!! If you ever get the chance, ride Grand Mesa when the Aspens are turning - another great ride!!

I've never used aux lighting before, I have a Denali D1 kit ready to give it my first try.

Twisted Throttle had them on a bike at the International Motorcycle show, so I at least got to see them.

Yep, will probably be adding lights some time down the road. It will not be high on the do-dad list of things get. Most likely a project for next winter.

I have the OEM PIAA's on mine ... beautifully crafted. Give off a goodly amount of light too. I do intend to hang some LED set up from the purpose made bracket below the headlight unit.

Since I'd not seen anybody else take a photo of the brackets that could be used for aux horns, driving lights, or a radar detector, here ya go. These are plastic, so I'd watch how much weight is added.

BTW - I'll be going back to the salvage yard for another set of $1.50 truck horns, just like the set from a Volvo truck that I have on the FJR.
NOBODY misses it when I hit the horn button!

I'm gonna try to find a way to put these lights on:

I have the altrider bars and I think there will be a way to do it by drilling one hole - or some type of clamp bracket - and maybe some type of extension bracket just to allow the lights to push forward enough to not break if the bike falls over on the bars. If I can do it right, it will only push the light off it's axis a little and not break it.

I've used this HID lights on my ST1300 for a couple years and they are the best lighting I've ever experienced. Better than the PIAA 910 spots I used before that.

I'll post something when I get the bike and give it a shot.
Thanks for posting up about those. I put a set on order yesterday. I have some Hella Micro DE's on the FJR and they are like supernova at night. Just what I want!

Nice pic. Thanks for posting it. I see that I'll need to fab a bracket to bolt up the light I intend to use. Low beam HID unit with a nice spread. I have one of these laying around in the garage.

All the articles Ive read have said that the factory driving lights are 'good' and 'bright' or 'sufficient'... I dont think that I have ever come across a stock head light that puts out the light that I want if im out in the middle of no where at midnight... I have some Fuego HID's on my FJR that "light up the night" when im out in the super dark places out in the US. I'm sure Ill be taking the Tenere off road way out in the boonies, so thinking of getting some lights at some point....

Who might be thinking the same thing ?
I probably went overboard in spending, but I ordered one of each of these:

http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/3325/PN-046-0638/Auxiliary-Xenon-HID-Light-Right-Side-Yamaha-XT1200Z-Super-Tenere
http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/3325/PN-046-0634/Auxiliary-Fog-Light-Left-Side-Yamaha-XT1200Z-Super-Tenere

And a whole bunch of their other accessories!!!!

Now I am only missing the part all the accessories attach to ;D ;D!

Best Regards,

Where/how are you going to fit them? Are you going for the Touratech position for fixing or do you intend mounting them on the bars or under the h/light. They look gr8 BTW.

Most likely the Touratech position but to be honest, really won't be sure until I have the Super Tenere in the garage with the $6,000 worth of accessories I have purchased (I believe I am finally done as the McCruise came in yesterday)!

As soon as I have it all on the bike (whenever I get the bike), I will post some pictures (like luckily others will be doing)!!

Have a great weekend!

NewVenturer,

I ordered one of each (left / right)! That is, one XEON and one fog-light!

I am sure you might be able to rig up more, but I figure if someone doesn't see me with the lights I will on the ST, I am a goner any how :'( :'(!

I still think they are a great light and the group buy price was a good deal. It was just that I had second thoughts about it all and decided to do a bit more "wait and see".

Good luck!!!

That's one thing that bothered me about the Touratech setup. I prefer to have right and left HID's. I went with the Custom Accessories 4" HID with internal ballasts. :lamp:

I was going to go with the Hella Optilux, but there's a Youtube video showing the difference in the light pattern of those two with the CA have more of a driving light pattern and the Hella having more of a fog light pattern.

The mounting may be a something to work out but with the bars as pictured below I should be able to work something out. I looked over the installation guide and Touratech has you mount the ballast inside the RH cover. I assume that there isn't a good place to mount a ballast for the left hand side and that's why they don't offer it ?

The Custom Accessories 4" HID's that Mellow posted have ballasts internal to the lamps which really simplifies things and was way less expensive than the Hella's, much less having a driving beam pattern, that I prefer.

Aggie 85 can you tell me where you mounted the ballast for the HID? I already installed a fuse box behind the upper right panel and not too sure where this is going to go...its pretty big. Thanks.
