Limey! Steve!

Yaw know I ain't exaggerating when I say I miss yaw much more than I was missing riding.

Having said that, I woke up about a month ago and finally had an urge to ride a bike. I didn't care which one. Anything that would actually start.
The first 2 I tried (because the keys were already in them) didn't even wake. Dead batteries.
Went and found the keys to Big Beast. Turned it on. It cycled through its sweep.
I'm thinking no way. Hit the starter button and it was a less than enthusiastic initial rpm. :)

But it lit! I was stunned.

Rode it into work. It was awesome.
Still, didn't want to "manufacture" the desire, because that backfired previously. But after riding several days in a row, I woke to high 30's and rain. The real deal wouldn't even have second thoughts. I cautiously geared up. (had to dig out the inclement riding gear)
It was the best ride so far! Had that yellow tc light blinking its heart out. We bonded again. The S10 is just so perfectly sorted out.

So, I took her into my trusted service guy and he was not believing when I drove up. I explained that I might be ready to pick up where I left off. And since it had been absolutely perfectly reliable and shook off anything and everything I threw at it, I'd like him to give it a complete look-over and make sure she's ready for a second 45k of bashing.

Two intake valves needed adjustment. Valves were beautiful. No carbon. All 5 fluids flushed. Swingarm bushings serviced. Steering head bearings..........

You get the idea.

Anyways, I've not driven the truck since. Soooooooo, I think I'm feeeeling it.
Logged into the forum. Read the stack of very kind wishes from many of you gents.
Steve left a link (from a year ago) to a ride report. It was crazy magnificent.

Do I need say more? ::013::

Lousy timing though, huh? Lol
December?

Life is funny

::012::

SUPER glad to see you back among the gang. There was definitely something missing when you needed some time off. Hope your return means you're doing well and hope that we see you at Romney buddy.

True Grip, you're amazing. One brilliant 2015-16 cliff-notes post and hardly a blank left to fill in!
Trikepilot, you do know every "rat" comment I made was pure BRAGGING on your bike! The poster bike of non-poser Tenere. ::013::
Checkwrecker, Dirt Dad, Splbuk, Chris, Fred, AV, Silverbullit, Gunner, Jaxon, DougC.........and, yea, that craaazzzzy Patrick

I have missed all of it so much. And I can't tell ya how good it feels with the warm welcomes. Thanks.

Ok, I feel like I've trashed this thread by barging in here. So let's get down to business. Lol
Yaw know me. I'm the itinerary_less rider. I just wait and see what everyone else hashes out.
Don't have a calendar or a gps. Both threaten my joy.

i would like to offer my help in plannig this event. Benjamin, if you are the official host of this event let me know how i can help. Like most people i stay very busy with work and family but i want to give back to the Super Tenere community, what better way than helping to plan a rally.

I appreciate it!! I'll most likely need every bit I can get!!

I'm still wrestling with the June dates. I'm going to do some research today to see when historically the high passes have opened but I'm a little concerned we're pushing it. Not that I'm a stick in the mud but I would feel bad if some of you traveled for days just to get here and you couldn't see some of the most epic scenery co has to offer. Stay tuned

I've been trail riding in Colorado for over 25 years and before July 4th weekend jeep passes are almost never open.

Yea, I'm pretty certain we were VERY fortunate with the weather in 2013.
It was legendary perfect timing, in so many ways.
Ended up stretching that 4 days into a month.

That'll likely be a hard one to replicate.

I seen that in your ride report Trike.
I have ridden in Colorado at least twice when Schofield, Pearl, and Black Bear never did open throughout the whole summer.
Black Bear was still snowed in at the Colorado Super Tenere rally in 2013.
It just depends on how warm the spring is.

Here is Black Bear pass on August 3, 2016. There was lots of snow.

I believe there was. Nobody could figure out how he wrestled a 575# dirt bike down that in one piece. Mad skill set. ::26::

I wouldn't want to but in a situation like that I would turn bike off in first gear and walk beside it feathering the clutch to inch it down. Staying on the upper side so if it got out of control I could turn it loose and not go with it. I'd like to see and do it but on a 250lb dual sport.
Would not surprise me that it's been done on a Tenere.

Buelligan has Black Beared the Tenere.

The three times that I have been to Black Bear [twice in Aug.] it was snowed in.
I have never ridden over it. One time I rode around the locked gate and rode up to the top where it was snowed shut.

I have dirt biked on 4th of July weekend when Tin Cup, Taylor, Hancock, Tomichi, Mosquito, and Hagerman were all snowed in.

Here is Tomichi and Mosquito on the 4th.

I rode Black Bear from the start at 550 into Telluride. I WAS NOT on a Super Tenere. Here is a picture from the backside. It was very challenging on my 250.

I have been up to the pass in a Jeep. Never made it over the edge because it was always snowed in. I was motorhome camping near Silverton last 4th with my RZR. No sense trying Blackbear because you can't ride on the streets in Telluride like you can here in AZ. The area would be cool for the rally. I'd like to ride Animas Forks to Lake City and back over Engineer and Cinnamon. I'd like to go up the California Gulch, but do it from Animas Forks. I don't think I could make it up Poughkeepsie Gulch. I've done it with a jeep, 4X4 quad and my RZR. You can also ride over Stoney Pass to the head waters of the Rio Grande and to Rio Grande reservoir.

I found this place looking around on the internet.
They have everything we need but I haven't contacted them and know nothing about it yet.
Just a thought.

What do you guys think? Looking for ideas.

I for one could feel right at home camping out in the mountains for free but that doesn't cut it for everyone.
