I didn't know the Rotax was a vee I guess. It's an evolution of the Rotax engines that were previously used in Buell bikes.

I read about these years and years ago. They'll pretty much run on anything that will burn. Don't know why people are willing to pay that much for them though. How about one of the USMC diesel KLR 650s? Six are now at auction in Tennessee.. . . .
I'm with you.Even slower, heavier and clunkier than a stock KLR650 and parts are pretty much non-existent? Yeah, I'm good without one...thanks.
Hi there, a bit of an update on this topic...I have just finished another offroad trip with kind of hard-core terrain (in Atlas called "cirque de Jaffar")...I did it with a buddy who was on a KTM 1290 SAR....now the S10 handled the track extremely well...I could have been faster but I was more on getting the bike safely through the offroad...the KTM did overheat and we had to add water to the its watertank several time....while the S10 was just sitting there quietly waiting for me to come up and continue riding....I loved the suspension on the 1290 though (it felt almost extraterrestrial!) But I hated the extreme heat coming out of the engine and exhaust that kept frying my legs (even with a freash water added while the ambient temperature was 40C!)...but on the reliability side I was worried....so I will keep my S10 and ordered already a ktm 690 for the fun single track trails...That is why my next bike is the KTM 1290...it is certainly more fun and for that I accept the potential reliability issues...I cannot accept however a very expensive bike with a fade/a bit boring engine and lot of bells and whistles that I can live without...just saying

That surprises me because the Tenere feels like she loses 100lbs as soon as she starts rolling. The VStrom must do the same thing, because it's only 100lbs lighter than the Tenere.. . . . I didn't know the actual figures I'd guess the Tenere weighs twice as much. . . .
I'm large, and don't look forward to that. Just 'cuz she doesn't feel heavy while moving, doesn't means she's not heavy. 600lbs is 600lbs.. . . . I've always been dreading the prospect of dropping it and needing help to right it.
I had a versys 650 and agree with the need for flat foot reach. I am 1m87 tall and do not have this problem with either bike. For the weight the only time when I really feel it is when I need to move the bike inside the garage...else it really feels like a 650.For me, it's a V-Strom 650. 1000% better fit for me and the riding I actually do. I am vertically challenged and I learned the hard way that just because I can reach the ground on a Tenere, doesn't mean the ergonomics work for me at all. And as much as I dream of the long-haul touring life, I have to face the fact that 90% of my motorcycling is commuting, and on the Tenere it feels like a chore. The Wee has brought the joy back to my daily ride. Although it doesn't have as long of legs on the highway, it seat-of-the-pants feels so much quicker and more nimble that if I didn't know the actual figures I'd guess the Tenere weighs twice as much. Not to mention I fueled up my Strom for the first time today and was so happy to not have to pay an arm and a leg. Probably the only thing I'll miss about my S10 is the shaft drive. It's just one of those situations where I thought for so long that I wanted a particular thing, and when I got it, it turned out not to be a good fit for me after all.

I feel a little different as I own a ‘21 S10 ES and a ‘22 R1250GS. The GS definitely has a snappier engine and a lot more tech than the S10.I went over the fence for a GSA 2023 trophy and just peed a little thinking about it. Tenere is good but everything it does good the GSA yawns at. Will I part with the S10 Nope great bike at doing everything and reliable and cheap until you ride a gsa...... do not ride a GSA warning you will buy one.
Same here, I'm looking for an Xmax every day. They're hard to find.Anyway, for a return to the thread title. My next two wheel ride might be a scooter like the Yamaha X Max 300.
