For fun...... does anyone want to talk about the new KTM, BMW 1300, Ducati Multi Strada V4S Rally, Tiger 1200.................. ?

It's fun to watch the comparison test of these on You-Tube.... How fun would that job be ?

Haven't watched any of the videos yet. When I do, I'll try not to go in rooting for the budget bike (of that group). Might be hard to do.

For this ‘fun’ chat…….. blow off the cost. I’m assuming most here arnt looking to buy a bike. We don’t need know about the price. Fun to chat about these without getting bogged down about the money………… we’re not in the market, just fun to talk about.

For me it would be the freinkeinstein bike:
S10 with KTM 1290 suspension, Africa Twin infotainment and detailed customization of the setup, 21 front and 19 back from KTM, engine tuned by Brabus, brakes ergonomics from GS, electronically adjusted windshield from Honda Goldwing 2019

Think I've decided on the BMW 1250 GS or GSA, lowered configuration, with DCT. Don't care whether Honda or BMW builds it. How's that for blowing off the cost.

Very nice..... have you been keeping up with the new 1300 info ?

You really need the KTM 1290..... nothing else will work....... :D

Ive ridden several 1190's and it's a bad momma-jamma......... I just cant get past all the same "issues" I read about WAY to often....... fuel pump, garbage in the fuel tank liner, a few wiped cams, totally worthless air box....... ETC... It's all the same little things that should have been fixed and dealt with YEARS ago..........

Some folks have ZERO issues.......................... and others are in conversations and negotiations to lemon law their bike to get their money back. (been in the dealer 5-10 times) ......

Im sure all manufactures have very similar stories if you dig hard enough...... In their own right, they are all good bikes for different riders..... and they ALL are expensive.................

After the last experience where a riding buddy was doing offroad in 43C temperature and saw how his legs were fried by the engine heat and how the engine kept heating every 200km...and also the fact that the offroad mode is capping the engine power at 100HP anyway....I thought let me stick to my beloved S10 and add KTM goodies to it to the extent possible :))

indeed and it has to do with the engine design because it is a V the exhaust pipe was coming out of the middle of the bike between the legs so it was unbearable for me....plus adding water to the radiator everytime while during such a 44C one should care more about staying hydrated...in any case once I upgrade my suspension to Ohlins I am sure I will be satisfied for a while... :))

'21 and up 1290's have split rads allowing airflow directly to motor. I've never ridden a pre-21 with the big single rad, so I can't make a comparison. I can say that heat has not been an issue on my '22 1290 (and I did 5 days in the Great Basin, Mojave, and Sonoran deserts in triple digit temps.....)

Good to read that they attempted to fix the heat issue. When I tried the 22 at the dealer I immediately disliked the quality of plastics they used, the buttons amd overall ergonomics...while I appreciate how they lowered the gas tank to lower the center if gravity, I just hated how the coolant bottle was really exposed and covered by a weak and cheap plastic. I did not like also how the rear passenger left peg was very sharp and too close to the driver leg. Otherwise it is the same LC8 engine though I red that they had an issue of a bolt being to close to the coolant hose that eventually ended up causing leak

Been watching but with their going to a totally different all aluminum frame makes me think of the journalist Kevin Ash who was killed on a test ride of the 1200 in SAfrica. Which then BMW seemed to effectively silence.
I'll let a few thousand others be the Beta testers for anything coming out of BMW. And probably still not trust them.

As long as money is no object, mash me up a KTM 1290 with a shaft drive and better looking headlights.

I fixed the heat issue on my 2020 with two simple actions.
1. Zipped closed the rear vents on my Badlands pants. They just funneled the heat directly to my legs.
2. Installed a Cool Cover. Shockingly effective. I once took it off when the OAT dropped to 50 degrees. Got sweaty fast.

It was over 100 degrees while sitting in a long, slow moving line waiting to get in the park for the Devil's Tower. Definitely hot outside. Bike did not overheat, and bike heat was not a factor for me.

I can't claim the same results for my 890. Nothing tames the heat on that thing.

Yea, not a fan of the ‘look’ of the 1290 front headlight. The Duc v4s rally headlight looks good. Dig those turn signals as well.

just like the designer of the GS headlight had an eye problem… modern designers must like insect faces:)
