Hey folks,
I don't want this to turn into what works what doesn't.. Just a few of my thoughts on parts / power / dirt roads... ::003::
As many of you know Ive had the 'bag-O-parts' mod done for quite some time. (muffler, header, PCV-AT, filter) Compared to a stock bike this has been an awesome set up for me. And many of you have heard me say that this set up 'for me' was great. I recently got the flash and added to this pile of parts. (After my back to back comparison to another customers bike) On the street it 100% changes many aspects of the bike.. bla-bla-bla-bla.... Yesterday was the first opportunity that I had to ride this new package on some dirt roads. This was the first time Ive ever thought this bike was 'fast'... On dirt, maybe a little crazy fast..
Ive always ridden this bike in (S) with traction turned (OFF).. I road my bike this way all the time except a few times in the rain. Yesterday in the dirt that was NUTTS.. No way dude.. 1-2-3-4-5-Etc just kept spinning the tire anytime I touched the throttle. I flipped it to (TC1) and in that mode I could ride the bike and have fun like I use too.... The TC light just blinks dang-near the whole ride. At one point I stopped and flipped it to (TC2) and then preceded, it was really fun definitely hooked up more. I got the poo-poo scared out of me when cooking a little flat track action in a nice sweeping bend. The traction being on 2 just about high-sided my dumb butt, and then rocketed out of the corner faster than I have felt on this bike before. Down this straight away I pinned it and for the first time said, HOLY S&*% this thing is freaking fast.. I was thinking, I now have a little better understanding on why Yamaha might have put some restrictions in the 'stock' software. So the average rider can go have a great time out on a dirt road with out killing himself. The flash with these other parts is so much more responsive, and in my case I might even use the word 'violent', that its much harder to just go 'put-put' around..
IMOP, this is where the (T) mode comes in. In the past I NEVER use (T) mode. Yesterday was the first time that I seriously thought, in the future 'dirt work' the bike will be in (T)... (S) is crazy and you have to have a lot of wide open dirt roads.. ::26:: I still ride (S) on the street though. I will now be riding my bike in (T) and (TC1) in the rain, no joke. I now have a better idea what Yamaha might have started out with when they developed all these (S) / (T) / TC1 / TC2. If you have the set up that I have these values TRULEY come into play. They have a real purpose. After the -Y- engineers make it able to come in the country, it makes me wounder why any of these came with the bike other than maybe a sales ploy.... Any who, just wanted to pass on my thoughts about the new -part- on the bike and what a nutty difference it made in the dirt.. Its a WTF moment..
Everyone knows about these different parts so lets not get into he said / she said, tons of post on these parts.. These are just my thoughts on the parts after the install.. ::008::
