Just home after the first Pfizer vaccine.
Despite being extremely careful, about a year ago we believe my wife had covid. She came down in march 2020 with a flu like illness that wrecked her cardio for 4-5 months like no other illness in her life. I got it and had a sniffle for two days. The baby seemed immune. My arm is sore and I ended up passing out in my lazy boy yesterday. I slept a solid 2-3 hours after my 2nd Moderna shot. I got up this morning and still have a few of the classic symptoms to a vaccine. Fatigue, muscle aches and joint pain.
According to what our doctors have told us those who have the least amount of side effects are the ones who have had some form of contact with COVID carriers. Those who have had little or no contact to the COVID virus suffer the worst side effects.
It makes perfect sense as my household has been taking most every precaution possible to avoid this virus. Heck, I remember 40 years ago in the Navy how sick I got when getting pre deployment vaccines.
That's good example of evolutionary processes but not the scientific method. In the scientific method theories are formed, tested and confirmed - intelligently conducted, not by mere chance as described in that video. Intelligent design, proposed as an alternative to traditional evolution, supposes a superior intelligence directing a series of experiments or advancements would compare more closely to the scientific method. Not to disrespect either view, just my explanation of the differences/definitions of the processes. Not at all. I do not wish to upset anyone of of any faith, but this example explains more clearly than I can
I am a simple man, but a few cm that a fish displays seems to be the intelligent route to me. Rather than the circuitous meters the laryngeal nerve travels on a giraffe. That's good example of evolutionary processes but not the scientific method. That's the opposite of what I have read and seen. This goes along with what my wife's doctor told her. The people that I know that had the virus had bad reactions to the vaccine. The ones that did not have the virus had little or no reaction to the vaccine. We both had the anti-body test before being vaccinated and showed no anti-bodies. I had both Moderna shots and only had a slight headache after the 2nd one. My wife felt a little tired. My arm is sore and I ended up passing out in my lazy boy yesterday. I'm going off medical professionals that have seen hundreds of patients and have first hand experience with treating COVID patients. At no time did I have a bad reaction to the vaccine. Just normal side effects that are outlined in the post vaccine instructions given to me.That's the opposite of what I have read and seen. This goes along with what my wife's doctor told her. Really? What medical professional told you that or is it something you read on mainstream media? The reports are beginning to show up that many that got the vaccine have now got the crap, either from the vaccine itself, or the vaccine does nothing, kind of like the masks possibly.
I don't know if I would call FB a blight on humanity.... I believe it is the Son of SatanI guarantee he heard it on oan or fb.

While NO vaccine has ever been 100% effective:The reports are beginning to show up that many that got the vaccine have now got the crap, either from the vaccine itself, or the vaccine does nothing, kind of like the masks possibly.
I agree with this on a lot of levels. Whenever I hear the phrase "the science is settled", I cringe, because science should never truly be settled but rather always questing for the truth. With this being a novel coronavirus, that is new to the human population, we have no natural immunity. This pandemic had to be dealt with as an emergency, with triage, mistakes, and all the decisions both good and bad that come from responding to an emergency situation. It will take years for us to truly understand why some populations faired better than others, and why there were complications with some of the vaccines that we didn't see in others. In my estimation, most variances will be attributed to genetic fluctuations, gender differences, societal differences and comorbidities. Mark Twain once sad there are three types of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics. One thing I have noticed is that most of the statistics presented in the media are without enough context to to make the numbers meaningful beyond the sheer scope. Anecdotally, with the ramp up in vaccines, there appears to be a relative decline in testing, further skewing the data. Until this crisis is mostly under control, mitigation efforts will need to continue. The good news is that I do see a light at the end of the tunnel, and its not an oncoming train...This pandemic will be researched for many years going forward. I'm sure we'll discover many things that were done wrong or needlessly and many that were correct. It's a bit like drinking from a fire hose to work out, interpret and understand all the data and questions as fast as it's being collected in real time. Many of Pooh's questions aren't scientific ones but rather societal and cultural ones. For example would the citizens of any of the democratic countries accept the draconian level of lock downs applied in China? Our government (in the US at least) does not have that level of authority. Are low case counts in Africa (assuming that's a true statement) actually due to low incidence or is it due to poor monitoring, reporting and record keeping capability? I believe some countries purposely downplay numbers so as to improve their image in the world.
With respect to us of the term "follow the science", science is not a book of answers with scientists all smug keepers of the truth. Rather science is a process, we follow the scientific method as means to collect, analyze interpret and understand the data. It's the data that holds the truths. Sometimes initial interpretations don't hold up in the end and the data must be reinterpreted. The scientific method is not necessarily a neat and tidy process, but often a result of what still stands after chasing down all the dead ends.
Well said and I would add that if indeed testing is decreasing, the other part of the story, which is more dramatic, and also supports the declining number of cases independent of testing, is the reduction of hospitalizations and deaths. Of course some of this is due to improved treatments outside of the vaccine. That's the part of the story that really matters the most.I agree with this on a lot of levels.
