0-60 and quarter times are fairly meaningless unless you intend to do full bore drags starts all the time, as are peak dyno figues, they are used to split hairs these days.
The fact the tenere does 0-60 real quick does not help me when exiting the 50 hairpins on the Stelvio Pass two-up with luggage, unless I spin it up to the redline and slip the clutch o-60 style - which would either overload the TC's capability and send me highsiding 3,000metres back to the bottom, or burn out the clutch before I reached the top.
Having modified many bikes I know the Plecebo affect does not work with me, when I drop off my GS for servicing I get a shiny new model, I notice it is a shade smoother and revs up better, I also notice the suspsnsion is nowhere near as compliant as my Wilburs setup and the bike is slower steering, when picking my bike up I immediately notice it is less smooth and not so free revving, but turns better and soaks up bumps easier.
The low gear restrictions on my ZZR meant I often needed to change down 3-4 gears to overtake, after throwing the secondary flies in the bin I could often leave it in top whereas before I would need to drop 2 gears, if this was all in my mind I would have soon gone head on into an oncomng car whilst I imagined the overtake was going faster because the dyno showed a 40% increase in torque at 4k in 4th when in fact the dyno was lying to help line the tuners pockets.
Even mere mortals can notice these sorts of improvements, I think sometimes after a service you can get the placebo effect in thinking the bike is running nicer, when perhaps it is not, but even an extra 10% of power / torque is noticeable to most riders, we are looking at 30% plus here - and right where most owners actually use their bikes quite often, in the year I have had my GS I don't think I have done a 0-60 dash or a standing start quarter run, but I have lugged out of low speed bends at 2-5k in gears 1-3 thousands of times.
