Looked online and it said the Mogollon Rim Road was open. It was closed all season last year with all the snow. After breakfast in Pine, we headed up to check it out. The trail was open with light spotty snow. The snow got thicker as we went east. Going west to east the last 12 miles are paved. The thicker snow on pavement gave us no traction so we turned around. Cool ride, finally broke out the heated gear.

Areeegato!

Yes, it's a thing. Mine has done it 5 or 6 times. If it foesn't fire up normally turn off the key a moment for the comp to reset and fires right up.
And I will add, keep the starter button pushed until it starts. (within reason) Sometimes she'll cough like she's going to start but doesn't. The starter disconnects as soon as she starts anyway.
Remember that if your first start attempt fails, always turn off the key and recycle before attempting again. Why? Because the headlights don't come on until you let off of the start button. That failed crank left the headlights on. Now you have less amps for the starter and ignition.

Took a corolla up it the long way from 87 one time. Creek crossings and all. Hiked to the peak till I needed rigging. Left going down the backside coming up one of the banks of the creeks.

Only damage was alittle digger on the front bumper into some gravel filled sand.

Winkleman and San Carlos Reservoir. San Carlos is on Indian Bureau land. Road around the Reservoir is in terrible shape. Paved many years ago and not maintained. Found a cattle corral down a dirt road.

Full day loop today.
Apache Trail to Lake Roosevelt. Lunch at the Butcher Table. A-Cross road down the East side of the Lake. Rt 288 up to the top. Back around the Lake and up and over 4 Peaks.
The East side of 4 Peaks was recently graded. Smooth but loose sand and gravel. I hate when they do that. My riding buddy went down on a bad corner and ripped off his windshield. A few scratches, nothing major.

So finally I had a free weekend and took Shadowfax for a two day trip. 450miles in total - Avebury, Glastonbury, Minehead, through Exmoor NP to Okehampton where I spent the night. Sunday morning riding through Dartmoor NP and then via Exeter on A303 past Stonehenge back home.
Conclusion?
Shadowfax just needs a fuel top up and she just keeps going while purring like a happy kitten.
Me? Need breaks to drink, eat, toilet, stretch, rest, sleep... :)
She's tough while gleaming with elegance and she loves long distance touring... and I'm totally gobsmacked how perfect she is!
