I plan on doing a weekend trip to Louisiana next month "13th annual Brothers Keeper". . The most I have done in one day to this point is only 200 miles. Plan to do 1500 miles in two days. The event is to benefit firefighters. I hope penny (ST) is up to the trip.

I received a card in the mail yesterday from Yamaha Motor Corporation announcing the PNW Tenere Owners Group's Big Summer Ride in Sandy, Oregon, August 14-16th. I went to their website but no details on the ride were available.
This sounds like a great destination for me to get out of the hot weather in August. I'm looking forward to seeing more details.

Yes we will be escorting Rem down to civilization and showing some of the PNWSTOG fellas around southern Vancouver Island mid July. The August ride looks interesting as well. Have to make sure I arrange some time off around then. May be the west coast version of this years super tenere get together. Glen thinks there may be 50 bikes.

Maybe sometime we can put something together to meet in the Kootenay's, maybe in Kaslo or Nelson.
Tamara and I were up there in 2009 really enjoyed the area.

Loading the S10 in the F150 Wednesday AM going to Afton, VA. Gonna ride the bike down the Blue Ridge Parkway hoping to make it to Gatlinburg in a day or two (about 500 miles). This will be my first Adventure style trip ever. Campin' out, local cuisine, and beautiful scenery, rain or shine.

Sounds like fun, except the Gatlinburg part. It's just a big tourist trap IMO.

Dust to Dawson in June then on to Inuvik. North from home on the Icefields Parkway to Jasper then west to Prince George on the Yellowhead, north through BC on the Stewart-Cassiar Hwy, then Alaska Hwy to Dawson City. Dempster Hwy to Inuvik and back then returning home on the Alaska Hwy south to Dawson Creek, then either home via Jasper or Drayton Valley depending on time, etc.

I just applied for the time off work, so fingers crossed. ;-)
Hey RockyDS,
I'm heading up the same way. Maybe we'll cross paths?

Damn you are tough... I live just off the BRP MM 316. This time of the year on the BRP is well iffy at best. There is a closure or two you should check www.nps.gov plus tonight it's 28 here probably 18 on the BRP. Most services just off the Parkway are not open for the season. 45mph speed limit is tough too.
I wish you luck. I day ride there often but on warm days.

I am out riding my Super Teneré'!

A semi-successful run down the BRP. Parked the truck in Clear Brook, took 522/340 down to Waynesboro. Met a guy on a Honda at a gas station who had been through before, so, after a short conversation we decided to run a ways down together. By the way, getting gas before you get on the BRP was some great advice from the folks from Winchester Motorsports.
The scenery was as you would expect, awesome, you'd want to stop everywhere. But I was there to ride and that's mostly what I did. The Tenere is an exceptional piece of machinery, plenty of power, good brakes, quite agile and very good on gas. The first day was nice sunshine until the sun went down, that's when things changed. I was well suited for inclement weather, four-season outfit, those heated grips, and used to the cold being from New York. Only real issue with the bike is I'm vertically challenged and throwing that leg over the seat got tougher each time I got off. Did not expect the fog at night or as many dear as there were, but I survived and stopped in the small town of Stuart. Unfortunately Wilville Campgrounds didn't answer their phone so I stayed in a small motel instead. Good thing I did as I found out that severe weather was coming to where I was headed, change of plans. Note, route 58 west of Stuart has some pretty tight and fun curves.
So, decided to head back the way I came the next day, and go figure its cold wet and foggy. The ride back through was considerably slower and I stopped at a few more areas like Marby Mill, not bad for a guy with no college degree. After all was said and done , I had driven 700+ bike miles in 2-1/2 days not bad for the first ride of the season. Will definitely be back some day but Tail of the Dragon is next up like mid-May and the Outer Banks for the 4th of July. I'll be searching for posts that are in the west for next years moving up ride, like Grand Canyon or Rockies I'm open to suggestions. I'll try to figure out how to post up some pics at a later time.
Anybody know were I can get a job just riding motorcycles? What a way to make a living. Enjoy and be safe out there.
