The K60s give some vibes at lower speeds, like sub 20 mph and I notice some extra mirror vibes at over 75, but for everything in between, it's pretty much the same as any other tire. Best when new, slowly deteriorates over the miles, but nothing unusual. I have noticed that at certain points in the front tire wear the K60s will want to bias to one side, then as they continue to wear, change to the other side or back to neutral. Seems to be how the tread blocks are designed and wear. Not a deal breaker and they don't pull, just one of those things you might notice with no hands on the bars as a slow tendency to go one way or the other after the first 10k miles or so.Boostedxt said:Are the K60s over all pretty smooth? I do a lot of road riding but would like to have some off road ability. Mainly dirt roads and stuff. Nothing crazy.
I came from a multistrada so i am used to vibrations. Haha
The K60s are a good choice. Some sizes are available in Fairbanks as take offs and are pretty much full dirt tires. Never know what will be available though. Some folks just rent a KLR for the Haul Rd and leave their 'nice' bike in Fairbanks. Something to consider.Boostedxt said:Thanks eric. Sounds good to me. I want a tire to do the alaska trip on which is 13,000 miles. The K60 i hope will last the whole trip. I might use road tires to get there then change them out in Fairbanks. Not sure.
Thanks again.

The important decision is to buy the hard to find 880 rear that is the METZELER ME880 MARATHON 160/70B-17 M/C 79V, REAR (REINFORCED)

Combine this with a front bias ply http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=33_165_172_595&products_id=3476
A friend of mine Dick Fish rode from Cardston Alberta to Ushuaia on a set. It has been alluded to that he rode briskly on the trip, he ran TKC 80s for the Prudhoe Bay to Cardston leg. Dick set the still unbroken record of 21 days and 2 hours Prudhoe Bay -Ushuaia. The portion of the ride on ME 880's was about 13K miles over some highly abrasive road surfaces
There are several threads on the topic if you search from the front page. The search bar here is a little weird to get used to - it searches the thread/topic/whole board depending on how deep you are.dab122255 said:Has anybody tried a set of these Mitas E-07's????

Where did you source yours ... a guy I work with loves his on a GS800 but must have picked up an older compound - tearing through them.snakebitten said:So the latest ADVMoto explained that the new Big Block Kenda is supposed to last longer than the previous one.
That could explain why the one I discarded in Colorado was still going strong.
I fully expected to use it up on my Ouray trip and made zero effort to extend it's life.
I wasn't surprised at it's rock climbing prowess, since it LOOKS like a rock climber. But it was also a fantastic tarmac tire and felt great on my many journeys up n down the $million highway. Even made a run to Lake City and Gunnison on it. Not to mention down to Albuquerque.
I kept thinking it should be dead, but wasn't. I kinda felt bad mounting the Karoo 3's before melting the Big Block.
Now I think I know why!

Rocky Mountain ATV MC has some very good prices on Metzeler Tourance tires. And free shipping!markjenn said:I need tires - anybody seen any great deals lately?

Good find. Tourances used to command a pretty hefty price premium over the Battlewings but they appear to be almost on par these days and the standard Tourances (not the Next) have a well-deserved reputation for longevity. Quite possibly the best option on a $/mile basis.cochise325 said:Rocky Mountain ATV MC has some very good prices on Metzeler Tourance tires. And free shipping!
Anything S10 Specific about Battlewings other than size?markjenn said:Still looking for the sub-$220/pair pricing I've gotten on S10-specific Battlewings in the past, but these days may be long gone.
