Yep, i can't stop it!!! I am thinking of painting the Raven when it gets here. I just don't know whether to go with the Euro white and red decals, or the Vintage Yamaha Yellow with Black decals. Man, i just can't leave the bike alone yet, and I don't even have it.

I’ve always been partial to the vintage Yamaha yellow with black graphics, but I'm partial to vintage stuff to begin with. Six or seven years ago I swapped the blue and grey plastics and tank on a yz426f I had at the time for the yellow-black scheme and it came out so cooool. The S10 in white is cool too, but yellow-black would be unique…imho. :)

twitch, there is a thread in here someplace, where i have a picture of my two previous Honda ST's that I painted. Hmm, where did i put that?

I like the vintage Yamaha colors too, but since this Tenere is an XT, even the vintage XT's had worn a white dress with some red accents on it!!!! HAHAHA!!! Yes, but the black on the Raven tail, if I keep the front fender black, and only paint the gas tank and the two uppers, it could look pretty amazing with the WASP decals and the Tenere Dude right in the middle of the tank!!! Oh, the Tenere dude will have to have red eyes instead of the gray ones!!! HMMMMM!!!! Where did i put my paint brush????

Whoa ... you got big cajones my friend. Paint the bike from day 1 ..... I wish I could think like that. Still a bit too precious a year on. BTW the yellow and black would be real nice IMHO 8) Go for it.

i would go zebra stripes if i lived in africa. Then for a challending ride, i would go into the bush, wait for the lions to get close, the gas it and let them chase me. Now that would be an interesting day trip!!!! Wait, where did i put the lion spray!!!!

Here you are Swagger!!! It wouldn't be my first dance at painting an expensive bike. I mean, with the AWESOME WASP decals, it WILL look sexy as hell. I won't want to stop riding here if you know what i mean!!!!!

DO you think this Yellowon the ST1100 in previous post would be close to the Yamaha Yellow used on say Kenny Roberts old bike, or say Bob Hannah's, or even Valentino Rossi's retro look M1 he used in U.S. GP a few years ago?

The only thing I want to paint my XT with is MUD! ;) I've never been much on washing bikes anyway, (rain rides count as a wash, right?), but it's going to be bad enough riding off pavement with a new bike, if you paint it and make it all pretty you'll never want to have fun with it. What's next? Pinstripes on your crash bars? Polished skid plate? ???

I'm really considering picking the bike up from the dealer, riding across the parking lot to some dirt, getting off the bike and kicking it over for a dirt nap, (in full view of the dealership), just to get that first drop out of the way. Bonus, find out what gets broken, then fix it so it won't next time. Only down side to this is I'd really want to have all the protection bits on the bike prior to the dirt nap testing and I'm too cheap to pay the dealer to do that when i can do it myself, (and will know it's done right).

Ah, heck, paint it white, it will look COOL! :D Yellow is just a "look at me" color.

While I haven't completely confirmed the following, I believe this is the "Competition White" color spec:

Yamaha 0390 Bluish White Cocktail #1 (BWC1)
SKU # : 5584
Vendor : ColorRite
Manufacturer : Yamaha
Manufacturer Code : 0390
Requires Base #1090

Like that color!! I had an 07 Wing that was Dark Orange and I really liked that. So many good colors to pick from, so little money. :))

I thought about painting mine right out of the box... I have several painter friends that would hook a brotha up...... But I really started thinking, im using this bike as a tool to get me to cool places and take me on a great adventure....... This ain't no show bike.... (been there, done that) Ill ride mine for a few years and "use" the heck out of it and then Ill dive in and do the full Marlboro race scheme............. :D Or Red Bull..... :D Get her all pimped out....... for round 2.... :D

I got way too many farkels and new gear to save for........ need to mow a few more lawns....... . :D ;D

There sure as hell isn't going to be some sparkle queen in my garage with or without a paint job on it. I could give a sh_t less if there is scratch on it or mud flung all over it. I HATE BLACK AND BLUE!!!!! I also don't like painting something to look like crap, or a ten dollar paint job to reduce any resale I might ever have. NO< I am not thinking of ever selling this thing for A LONG TIME!!!! I would still have the Yellow ST i have shown, but I totalled it. That was to me a real kick in the ole nuts, as I wanted to keep that forever after riding it to all 50 states in the USA. It didn't happen!!! If I am to paint it white, it will be the same to change the pigment in the paint and make it Yeller!!!
