I just came from the dealer in Burleson Tx and the Yamaha truck was there and the new bikes parked outside. They do not have a V-MAX.
Got my first look at the new Tenere. It is a Black, USA model. The guys running the truck said the bike was in production. He also said there were 770 orders to date. Take that for what's worth.

I really don't have much to say that has not already been said.. LOL. I am 6'2" with a 30" inseam and could touch the ground with the balls of my feet on the low seat setting. I'm sure with boots on it will be better. With my feet on the ground, I felt a little tightness in my hips because of the width of the seat. That will change as the seat breaks in, I hope. The bike feels bigger than I thought it would, but not really heavy. The balance feels good.

For me, I will need the mirror off set pieces. I was looking at my shoulders more than the road. All and all, the bike looked well made.

The stickers for the EPA were on the bike, so it must have passed. There were numbers for Cali, Canada, 49 states and 50 states.

One thing I noticed, the sticker on the gas tank was for 91 octane. There are places in the states where 91 is not available.

Last item for today:
If you want to purchase a bike, the dealer will be taking orders on Sat. I was told that was only because of the demo rides.

More tomorrow after I ride it.. ;D

Dude, PICTURES? ???

Sad to hear they're slapping a 91 octane requirement on the engine.

Dude, it's just an old black bike. :D Just kidding..
I will take some later today, did not have camera with me. Yea, I'm not thrilled about the Octane requirement, but it is what it is.. I'll break it in on 91, and then maybe try 89, just to see if it will take it. With the damn ethanol it will be hard to say.

Well darn, I was hoping Yamaha would have really done something and made it where it could run well on 87 octane.

Did they only have the one black bike there? Was wondering if they also had a blue with USA stickers.
No Fred, it was just the black one. I wish they would have had one of each. lol.. But at least it was a USA bike. 8)

Thanks, Jim.

I wonder if I should change my order to black instead of blue? ;)

It would probably be ok at the higher elevations. I know it has twin plugs per cylinder: that is usually a trick to improve flame propagation in large bore engines. IT most likely will run on the lower stuff, but that is a very large bore and not a low compression ratio, so who knows. My little bored ( comparatively) FZ with it's high compression ratio doesn't like anything less than premium, and lets it be very well known. The S10 has larger bores than my Ford truck, and higher compression ratio as well.

Just a thought, but what method of octane did the sticker reference? There are multiple types that derive different numbers for the same stuff. Just a thought with no knowledge of which method was depicted on the sticker nor how the different numbers equate.

So...forgive me...I'm not clear here...is this a demo bike or a shipped bike for purchase???? This is kinda important because I'm about to buy a Tiger for a ride in June.....

It's a demo bike that makes the rounds of the shows and dealers. The only demo bikes that I have seen from ride reports were from across the pond. This is the first bike made for the USA market that I know of.
