Welcome to Romney week. There are guys already on the road heading to the event. As all of us raise a kickstand and point our bikes towards Romney please have a safe ride and watch for those deer and surprises around the blind corners.
Our current anticipated headcount is about 136 people. As we've seen in the past, the number of people who actually show up will likely exceed that headcount by a bit.
This updated overhead shot of Romney from last year shows the additional camping area that Checkswrecks mentioned earlier. The thick yellow line on the right side of this photo is the area where no one has camped yet. In theory it should be a quieter area. Of course if all of you head over there now...maybe not.
Sign in - Like last year we will have wrist bands for this event. Starting Friday morning we will have a table setup inside the door of Service area. From the side parking lot, the door with the big Service sign over it is pretty obvious. Please come in to sign in, and get your wrist band. This area is also where you can make your donation to the WV School For The Deaf And Blind and get your raffle tickets.
Volunteers - This will be our first year being a volunteer coordinated event. We have just grown too large for Romney to have enough staff to adequately support us and run the dealership which will be fully operational on Friday and Saturday. To address this, either Checkswrecks or myself will be onsite at most all times from Friday through Sunday morning. We'll be wearing the red shirts to make us easy to spot. We will need volunteers to help guide people on where to setup when they arrive, and to work at the sign in table. It's likely we'll also find we can utilize volunteer support in other capacities. If you would like to volunteer for the day on ether Friday or Saturday please see Checkswrecks or me. The volunteers will be provided a hi-viz t-shirt to make them move visible to everyone. As I've mentioned in another post, please be patient with us as we workout how to best utilize the volunteers.
Bikes only on grass - Romney does ask that we keep all cars, trucks and trailers off the grass. Bikes are no problem.
Extreme caution on Friday morning - ** Reminder ** Please use extreme caution riding around the dealership Friday morning. Some children from the WV School For The Deaf And Blind will be onsite doing a field trip to dealership and factory trucks. Please be very careful.
Speaking of the kids - 100% of the donations received will go directly to the WV School For The Deaf And Blind. Our anticipated headcount this year is a little lower than last year. If we are going to meet or beat our donation amount from last year it's going to take a little more effort. If it works for you, please feel free to increase your donation to the school. :grin2:
Raffle - quick reminder that Kawasaki wanted to participate in our event this year and they volunteered to provide the grand prize of the $900 Helite Adventure Jacket. Thanks again to Kawasaki.
The truth is it's fantastic to have all three bike manufactures represented by Romney be involved with the Camp N Ride. Thank you Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki.
I expect there will still be one or more updates this week to provide some additional links.
