One month from today the early arrivers will begin appearing out at Romney.

Yesterday I finally made it out to Romney. Probably my first visit this year. They are in full swing and just about done with all the plans. I do need to write up a general update and will try to get that out in the next few days.

Until then...how about a nice look back at last year.

Snakebitten in the water crossing.

Possibly the photographer was scared and a little shaky hoping he (or she) would not have to go through that crossing?

Then again...maybe not. ;D

Guess I should have put a credit for that photo. It was taken by some guy named Steve. Same guy took this picture.

New Route Sheet Available

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12587467/Romney_CnR_Routes/Romney_CnR_Routes.html

A rider known as Rudderfeet on both ADV and Stromtrooper has been working for weeks on creating and deploying these new route sheets. He's developed the PDFs and gone back and forth with Romney, their web provider, Checkswrecks and me countless times make this happen.

The link above represents a huge amount of work. Please click the link and check out the fantastic route sheets that have been created.

Also thanks to Firedog45 on ADV for cleaning up the route files and making them much more usable. If you tried using the gpx files in the past, it would be worth downloading a fresh set. They are much cleaner now.

Two things fer sure... there is nothing "shaky" or "scared" about Steve and that guy in the last pic is a total poser

SHIRTS

We are a month out and I've sent the PayPal email address to what I think are all those who emailed that they want shirts. We need to cut off in a few weeks to get the shirts made, so if you want to be a cool kid with a shirt, send me a pm.

Make room for Kawasaki... ::012::

I'm very pleased to announce that Kawasaki has decided to join in the event this year by donating the main prize for the charity raffle. They are generously providing a Helite Adventure Jacket with a retail value of $900.

I have been aware that Kawasaki had taken an interest in the event and was looking for a way to participate. Personally I'm very excited to welcome them and greatly appreciate their interest and participation. Thank you Kawasaki!!

Romney is a new Helite dealer and they are selling all Helite products at a 15% discount from retail price. I was out there on Saturday and purchased 2 Helite vests myself.

Note: This is a raffle prize change that replaces the GoPro mentioned earlier. 100% of the proceeds from the raffle will go to the West Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind.

Sticking to the reason we have a raffle, I would like to pass along the information that was received directly from the school regarding how last year's donation was utilized. Also how they are thinking they can put our donation this year to good use.

The last donation paid for many athletic items. Athletic shoes and warm-ups were purchased for the boys and girls basketball teams. We were able to have a co-ed soccer team and the donation helped purchase cleats and uniforms for the whole team. The wrestling team was able to purchase new warm-up sweatshirts and water bottles with carriers.

The next donation will be used for more athletic needs directly related to the students. Such as: Warm-up gear, shoes and cleats for next season. The warm-ups and sweatshirts are personalized to the student, so after the season is over he or she is able to have something relating to the school from which they attend. This gives the students great pride to be apart of the campus and athletics.

I really love how we are coming together as riders from all over the US and Canada and leaving a positive impact in our wake. It has been awesome to watch this event grow into what it has become and to see kids truly benefit from us having a great time together, doing what we love to do. Thanks to all of you that are making this possible.

As was mentioned earlier, all proceeds from our raffle for the Helite Adventure Jacket go directly to to The West Virginia School For The Deaf and Blind. Tickets are available at the event. For anyone that would like to participate and cannot be at the event, I will be happy to hold your tickets for you. Let's face it, it would look really bad if I won.

If you can't be there but want to donate and have a non-participant hold your tickets (non-attenders only) send a check made out to "The WV School For The Deaf and Blind" to the following address.

Romney Cycles, Inc
51 Industrial Park
Romney, WV 26757
Attention: Larry Presgraves - Camp-N-Ride

Tickets are $10 each. On the check memo include your forum and forum name. If your check does not have your real name and address printed on it, include that, too. If you do not provide your forum information it will be considered a welcomed donation...thank you.

I recommend checks because for the last two years the school has sent out thank you letters and donation receipts. Regarding the charitable status of giving to the school, please discuss that with your accountant.
