Had a nice long talk with the GM at Romney this afternoon. They feel they are ready to go.

Here's the latest info in no particular order.

Mechanic on Duty: Romney will keep a mechanic around until 6:00pm on Friday, and 5:00pm on Saturday.

For those arriving early: You are welcome to arrive early, but be aware not everything will be up and running until Friday, the official start date of the event. Port-a-potties were expected to be up on Wednesday afternoon. When Romney called to confirm delivery, the company had it down as Thursday morning. Romney reiterated they expected them Wednesday afternoon, but be aware, it's possible they may not show up until Thursday morning. You are welcome to use the dealership bathroom while they are open. The potties will all be consolidated in the same area this year not spread around like last year. There will be wash stations added this year.

Showers will be up Friday afternoon after all deliveries have been received.

Fire pits: There are two fire pits this year. The main fire pit near the green building (same as always). The second one will have a larger ring than last year, and will be located along the tree line (left side of map photo posted yesterday). There is a supply of wood near that ring.

Parking lot: Look to make sure you are not parking too close to the fire ring in the back.

Romney has consolidated their trailers this year so there is more room in the big main parking lot.

Please avoid parking anything (bike, trailer, car) in the employee parking lot. That lot is the relatively small lot near the very back of the dealership building. Please don't park on any pavement on the far side of the showers. We apparently crowded out some of the employees last year.

If in doubt we expect to have volunteers in hi-viz t-shirts to help you know where to and not to park. If there are no volunteers around please don't be offended if someone asks you to move if you somehow end up in a place that requires it.

Volunteers: If so inclined, please do.

Sign in: Will not begin until Friday morning. If you arrive early...enjoy, then come see us in the Service area Friday morning to get all your credentials. Romney staff will not be doing the sign in this year. It will be handled by Checkswrecks, myself and the volunteers that are chomping at the bit to help make this a smooth running operation.

Ice/Water/Coffee/Phone Charging
: All located in the little green building.

Romney Staff Availability: Between all of us, a weekend at one of the nations busiest dealerships, and all the extra people drawn in by two factory trucks, I think it is safe to expect the Romney staff to be absolutely slammed and working their tails off to keep up. Trust me when I say they are extremely happy to have you here, but during the business day they will probably not be able to engage in extended chit chat. Please don't be offended if they get pulled away from a conversation. I know Larry (GM) is planning to spend both Friday and Saturday evening with us out at the fire, and I suspect Kevin (owner) will, too.

Checkswrecks and Dirt_Dad: The red shirt guys. With the Romney staff expected to be so busy, we will be the go-to-guys for the Camp N Ride group. Considering our experience over the last 4 years, it is extremely unlikely there will be any issues, but if there are, grab one of us.

School tours: See the sign-in desk if you would like to tour the WV School For The Deaf And Blind.

Raffle: The raffle is expected to happen between 7:30 and 8:00pm Saturday evening.

He's just excited I would presume.
Good, that's the way we all should be. I have to get through one more day of work and then I'm Romney bound. I do look forward to this all year.

I would like to encourage everyone to go back a couple of posts to Checkswrecks posting the link to the Welcome and ICE document. Good information there. It will save time if you download the ICE document at home and have it filled out when you sign in at Romney. It really is an important document. You never know when a tree is going to fall and knock you off your bike. Don't laugh, it happened last year. Having the contact information is really something to take seriously.

We ask everyone to carry the ICE document in their jacket. It has a lot of useful information in the event of something unexpected happening. I've carried mine all year. We will also collect the information to keep at the sign in desk and will associate that with your wrist band. That is how we knew who was injured last year and who we should contact. It was a very successful method of knowing who needed to be notified. I know you're all good riders, but trees don't care.

Looks like most all of us will get to do a rain gear test at some point over the next five days. Please do be careful out there. I know a number of people will be getting on their bikes tomorrow and heading that way. Have a good safe ride.

I liked Snakebitten's setup last year and got tired of sleeping on the ground.
Casa-Bob is already on site! Pull up a seat and a beer.

Looks cozy. I'll be there tomorrow.

One last suggestion - consider filling your gas tank in town as you arrive. Better to stagger our fill-ups than having 100 guys trying to get fuel all about the same time in the morning.

Ride safe everyone.

Add 1 to headcount:

Will be trailering up tomorrow from central FL. Google says 13 hours, so I'll probably roll in after dark.

Was going to ride out two up with the wife Friday night, but Sunday looks to be a 3+ inch rain day. We are going to trailer out there instead of riding two up. If it were just me I'd ride through the rain.
