Regardless, I think we both agree a little communication between both parties could have improved the situation. I see your perspective, but don't share the concern, considering the panel in question. ::008::

Oh, I certainly agree communication could have been better in this situation. No question about that. That's a little why I feel Ramsey shouldn't judge the dealer so harshly. He was informed, and he had an opportunity to avoid the extra charge given what we've been told here.

I guess I can readily see it from the dealer's perspective because I was a dealer for so many years. During those years there were many a customer who claimed some minor scratch or mar was caused by our techs, yet often the tech did no work even remotely in the area of the mark. For that I can see the dealer erring on the side of caution. Like you, it's hard for me to see how that panel could be damaged, but then again, if I were the tech I might have pulled the crash bar just to make absolutely positive the customer couldn't later claim the panel was scuffed because I tried to squeeze the panel out with the crash bars still mounted. ???

Again, I'm not trying to argue or debate. I think you and I are on the same page, and can see both perspectives. ::003::

I have no issues with the charge although they had no idea how long it would take to remove it I never been harsh at all with them.
What i do have an issue with is the bumbling way they set this all up.
Keeping my bike for a week waiting on the part that they could have ordered after all the paperwork was complete. telling me they can't sync my TB's because they haven't received the special tool that they are not sure they need to do the job and the way the service manager blows me off when I asked him if they can do it is what put the nail in the coffin for me.
Simply put they don't want to work on Teneres.

I had my recall done back in early March. No charge to me whatsoever. I have AltRider crash bars. If they had to remove my crash bars to get the side panels off they are morons. There is ample clearance to remove the panels.

If they want to remove the bars, ask them to bring the bike out for a second. Remove the lower right panel. You can use the hex tool under the seat. Then give them the bike back.

Pulled mine apart Wednesday night. Went to my dealer Thursday with the old part and the letter. Have new part in hand and will reassembele tomorrow.

Me likey my dealer.

As to the crash bars. If I was running the shop my instructions would be to remove them and invoice the customer. I can get my covers off on the right side, but it is tight and there is always risk of craging one of the captive screws across the paint.

The other stuff is a legitimate gripe. No need to tie the machine up waiting parts. In fact, My dealer had a stack of them out on a shelf in the shop. It appears like he reviewed his sales records andordered in a bunch proactively. Too bad they all aint like that.
