The Akrapovic can is what you want then. Got rid of the Arrow for that reason and am happy with the Akra. A slip-on alone with stock headers runs well with CO=3 and TBS=0.5cc at 6000'-9000'ft. The problem is when you switch the headers like I did. Cannot get a good CO to compensate for poor idle. Will have to use a PCV eventually.

Know what you mean about ABQ weather. Even from the east side to "across the valley" or up on the plateau can be quite different. They are calling for some snow here again today, so I have been out cleaning leaves before it hits again.
Rod, I will second that on the Akrapovic. I had the Arrow and now have the Akrapovic. The Akra sounds great to me but is only very slightly louder than stock, but lets the bike breathe much better. I also feel that I am getting a little more low-end with the Akra compared to the Arrow. They both make a big difference up top. The Arrow is loud though. That is why I switched. The Akra with Arrow headers sounds great. Deep rumble but not too loud, just perfect for me.

Anyone weigh the stock muffler and cover?

I wonder how much weight is shaved off with changing to an Akrapovic and dumping the passenger foot pegs plus stock muffler cover? Must be over 10lbs.

Anyone heard from WASP Greg lately? I would like to know if he got a chance to run his pipe on the Dyno.

I was surprised at the size of the Leo. It is about half the thickness of stock and about 1/2 the weight. I forgot to weigh it, but it sure feels that way.

Might as well give my feelings on the spacer setup that is supplied with the Leo. When installed according to the directions, the tail end of the can hits the exhaust shield. This in my opinion really looks crappy, but if you don't use the turn down silencer it has to be done this way.
I used the above silencer and eliminated the spacer. Kinda modified the mounting a little. Now it is much tighter to the bike and no problems with heat.
With the can tucked away, the tip really does not look bad.

Hi Japako,

That's a little disappointing about the mounting, I was looking at a Leo Vince because I thought they looked like they fit pretty good.
On this picture it looks ok but maybe they did the same mounting mod that you did, thanks for the info.

That looks like the spacer was left out. But it is really hard to tell without a pic from the rear.

Jim,

I have the Leo Vince installed, with the spacer, and it does not hit the exhaust shield. It fits the bike perfectly and the end of the muffler is parallel with the line of the heat shield. If you don't tighten the screws all the way and leave the spring disconnected you can move the muffler around a bit so it aligns with the heat shield without touching it. At that point you can tighten the screws.

I hope this helps.

Do you have pics of that? It is entirely possible that I messed up, but I had the can on and off 3 times because of the alignment..
I do like it the way it is, as I think I can move my racks in closer on that side.

It is a bit louder than stock, but I think it sounds good. It is not too loud, just a nice sound..
There are U-Tube vids that show the difference.

If you were running good before, then no, you can leave it just as is. Put the can on and ride.
If you make the system more free flowing by adding headers with no cat, a free flow air filter and the can, then you would need to improve the amount of fuel in. jmho

In my case I did the CO adjustment a couple of weeks before I installed the LV. After I installed the LV the bike ran even better than it did before so I did not mess with CO, or anything else for that matter. In any case, as Jim suggested, I would install the Akra and ride it for some time before doing anything else. I am not a fan of doing multiple mods at the same time. If you mess something up you know what you need to fix or undo. :-[

Jim,

I'm headed out of town with the family for the weekend but will post pics after I'm back.
