You can add me to the list of KLR owners. I have a 08 that I have turned into a very good off road motorcycle. I may sell it if the Super Tenere will go the places that I take the KLR.

I sold an 1100 Honda Spirit and a 650 DR Suzuki to buy the Tenere. I kept my XT 225 Yamaha for putting around, but previously to the XT the only other Yamaha I had was my first bike, which was a DT 175 (which was many, many years ago). So, I went from not owning a Yamaha for years (I had Suzuki and Honda) to now having two Yamahas in my garage. I guess you can say I'm exclusive Yamaha now.

So, check it out....just on this page alone, by introducing the ST, Yamaha has replaced 9 bikes, made by another manufacturer. I don't know how many of you (like me) decided to buy the ST and had no plans to buy another bike this soon.

Might be a fun poll.

When you ordered your ST, were you already planning to purchase a new MC? Y or N?
Are you replacing another motorcycle? HD, BMW, Kawi, Suz, TRi, Honda, Yammy?

I'm keeping my KLR. It's become my 1 up bike. The Tenere is my 2 up bike!

I sold my WR250R last month. Most likely the Duc will go on the block after I get the S10 sorted. I, for sure did not plan on getting rid of the Duc anytime soon, as I purchased 2 additional years of warranty above the 2 that comes with the purchase. Actually would have been easier to sell it the first 4 months as I was struggling to keep it with the horrible fueling and tank range issues. But Ducati came out pretty quick with ECU flash to cure the lower rpm roughness, and I am getting 44 mpg now on regular basis, so pretty much happy with the bike. Plus it is a little handling rocket!

That will always be one of life's mysteries!!! I very seldom plan anything related to vehicle purchases........ they just happen.

PRETTY IMPRESSIVE REALLY.
I love KLRs and am keeping my 90. Can't ever imagine being without. That being said, I'm getting to old to tour on KLRs. I am looking for a bike that can do what the KLR can do but capable of eating up big highway miles. Hoping the S10 is the bike.

I wasn't planning on a new bike when the Super Ten was announced... I was actually hoping to see the XT660, or since I live in Arizona, convert a WR450 to a street legal bike. While I was growing up, my dad bought all Hondas, once I was able to buy my own power sports vehicles, I have only bought Yamahas (quads for the dirt, bikes for the street). This will be the third Yamaha in my stable (I currently have a YFZ450 and an FJR), and I'm looking to this bike to be a long distance (Alaska, rallies, etc), go out and have fun bike, while my FJR will stay as my commuter...At least, that's the plan now, not sure sure if it will change in the future...

I was into a Yamaha dealer looking for an extension for my Gebrings gloves, just happened to ask what's new and the sales guy gave me a brochure. Instant lust. Got on the WWW, found this place, found ADV, was at my dealer of choice with my check book inside 2 weeks after first look.

I am a long time Yamaha customer, this will be my 6th brand new one. Sold my monster to make room in the garage. Keeping my FJR, if you need to eat great heaping gobs of asphalt in a short period of time, that is my tool of choice.

I was looking for a used KLR for a buddy of mine - went into the Yamaha Dealer (know them well) asking about a used KLR and they said "have a look at this" and showed me a picture of the XT1200Z. Started reading - mostly Wasp's posts on ADV, first day of the Canadian PDP my money was on the counter. I was not looking for a new motorsickle. But as they say - that's history now.

I'm gonna guess 887 sold.

I knew about the Super Tenere early on from ADV rider. I had zero plans to get one, cause I was still enjoying my few month old F800GS.

Well, after various issues and numerous trips back to the shop, the F800GS was deemed a lemon, and BMW bought it back. I had the chance to get a new model year F800GS, or even trade up to a R1200GS. The entire process took about 4 months, which gave me time to think about the ST. A few things influenced my decision: My WR250R had been flawless since day one, and I figured I had already pissed off the local BMW shop, and didn't really want to deal with them any more. That was back in January and both are still true today.

Not sure if I'd choose the waiting for the ST over again. Haven't rode a big bike in 5 months. I'm sure my opinion will change once we start getting the bikes next month.

hey 2xadv, um what math are you using???? $12.000 x 30 bikes is $360.000
Those numbers are based in general PROFIT per bike. Total is big $, but they have their cost and theit goal is PROFIT. Building the bike is not free for them. Production cost + Engineering and Manuals and testing and certification for each model year add up to a lot. If they feel that this PDP volume has "shot their wad" they will not invest in the renewals each model year.

I'll guess 1297.
I was in Ar at a Goldwing get-together and rode a friends Wee Strom. That was all it took. I was getting tired of riding a 900lb bike and was looking for something different. Went to my Yamaha dealer and mentioned my intentions, he gave me the slick on the S10. After much research, I put down my money and the rest is history. :D

It has been a long wait, but I'm sure it will be worth it..

So, I had just traded my '05 Connie on a new Honda NT700V...I wanted something lighter, capable of long freeway miles and daily commuter, run-to-the-store.....bike was 3 months old when I was excited by the MC reviews; 3 months later, I had one on order.

Never ridden a Yamaha (though I do own a Yamaha piccolo);

So, at least in my case, with the PDP, Yamaha increased sales by 1, at Honda's expense (a very big deal)...and has stimulated a bike purchase where there would have been none.

I had a KLR for 5 years. Sold it back in 2007. So you can check me off as a former KLR and FJR owner. I think you'll find a bunch of former FJR guys, too.

My 2010 KLR with 13,000+ miles will be sold shortly to make room for my Super 10. I'm not a 2 bike person and I knew the Tenere was designed JUST FOR riders like myself as soon as I read up on it. That being said my head will always turn and a smile will grace my face any time I see a KLR on the road.

We can only hope our Yamaha's will be worthy of the KLR's 24 year and still counting production run. 8)

My KLR is for sale (tentatively sold to a friend once I complete a repair), and the ST1300 will go on the block assuming SWMBO certifies the Super10 as comfy enough. Both are great bikes but space is limited in my garage. I think the Yamaha will provide a combination/compromise of the things I like about both of them.

I'm keeping the Street Triple, though!

I think they will sell a lot more, once the bikes are available in the US. In South Africa about 400 S10 bikes sold in 12 months and the biking population here is a minute small number against the US market and its potential. This is the kind of bike that sells itself, once available and visible on the streets to the general public. Everywhere I go with mine, it always draws attention and the inevitable bike chat with strangers.
