Trying to fit OE grips to my S10. I didnt get the curly clip as Partzilla didnt have one when i ordered the two grips and my local uk dealer wants £32 for tiny piece of bent metal.

Two problems,
first, might seem silly, but I can’t seem to undo the end weights?? Any advice welcome.
and two, any pics on how the wire fits into the clip and how it rolls around in the housing? The Instructions are super vague…..

Bar end off, I got my BIG bar on it:eek::)

update….
all on and connected, just need to suss how the cable goes inside throttle housing.
does this look ok on the left grip? Instructions say it should be further round but cable sits better like this.CF49659D-E4C5-4CCE-8D51-E021FFF7C42A.jpeg
the cable has a stiffened piece that sits nicely in the groove under the switchgear this way. Twist it to where the instructions say and the stiffened bit half hangs out the other side where the cable needs to flex to run in with the other cables.

I have a 2017 non-ES bike and I have fitted Oxford heated grips and they work well. I use the Oxford controller and mine are wired into the battery, however, I seem to recall reading on here that the Oxford grips can be wired into the Yamaha connectors on the right hand side of the bike as you sit on it. I haven’t been able to find the post covering this and I have just read through all 11 pages of this thread.
I have a couple of questions, if I can connect to the Yamaha connectors, then do I still use the Oxford controller or will connecting to the wiring loom activate the grip control in the menu? I am guessing the Yamaha loom will give a switched live? If anyone reading this has connected Oxford grips to the Yamaha connectors, then can you either post some pictures or give me a link to the posts that do? Thanks in advance for any help and advice.
I have my Oxford grips wired to an Eastern Beaver fuse box, but this video shows where the plug is.

My gen1 oem heated grips just quit working. They were great while they lasted. The wire in the throttle looked ok. Primitive looking setup. I couldn't find a fuse to check. I just installed some oxford grips. I'm cooking again..

I have 2018 ze/es and these were the ones I fitted:
Heated Grips (Super Tenere)

£304.00

Part Number: 2BS-829A0-00-00 Yamaha

Not sure what model you have or where you are so I suppose that might influence the part number.
I can confirm that once installed these automatically show up in the menu. Hope that helps.

FYI,
I finally got to doing this. Back in October I couldn't even find any on the market, and the winters here are long.
Bottom line, I had to replace both. I measured 1.5 ohms on the new ones.
The work was more hassle than I thought, especially getting the left grip off, obviously no issues with the right side.

Thanks for the help.

Guys and Girls

I have an issue with my OEM heated grips on my 2015 Super T ES.

I lose the heated grips display intermittently. (Now it’s completely missing) I noticed it in the spring, but only now, in the fall decided to try to take care of this issue after reading the thread here.

At first, I ohmed out the right grey connector and it was completely open. The left black one read 2.4Ω.

I was happy that I only need to buy the right grip. Before putting things together again and after looking at the wires on the grip side (looks good) I decided to spray electric contact cleaner, loosen the zip ties, and shake the wires a bit. Used my voltmeter to check for ohms again and this time around I get the following.

  • Left Black reads 2.4Ω. Spec from shop manual 1.21-1.48 Ω
  • Right grey reads 1.8Ω. Spec from shop manual 1.17-1.43 Ω
I still don’t see the display of the heated grips.

I didn’t think that out of spec ohm readings would be the issue. I thought I would get a complete open.

Maybe I didn’t get a good reading first time around, but now I definitely do.

What are your thoughts?

Thank you,

Late reply but compressed air from a basketball inflation needle push in under grip from outside and blast air, Grip moves anywhere you want it . :)
