Ok, I have decided what to do about the "pins and needles" I suffer with in my throttle hand after riding for half an hour:

1. Fit new bars and risers - Renthal KTM bend and ROX 2" adjustable. The OEM bars are swept back to much for me and Renthals will reduce this by 12 degrees, whilst the ROX risers will make them more adjustable.

2. Fit home made throttle control - 3D printed. I made one of these for my Bulldog which worked great - it does not rely on friction but "indentation".

3. Replace throttle return spring on throttle body with one about 50% weaker. Next to handlebar sweep I believe the return force on the throttle is probably the next biggest cause of pain in my throttle hand.

I shall let you know how all turns out.

I'd love to see more details on your home made throttle control. I wound up with the excel control myself, but I'm always interested in gadgets!

Here are some pics of my new Renthal 827 KTM bars with Chinese "Rox" risers. Shall try it out on the weekend and let you know if the pins and needles are reduced.

Drill some holes in bars then fit

Will be interested to see what you think of the risers Nissbird. I changed my bars, similar to yours except Pro Taper and although the less sweepback has cured the neck pain I was getting with the stock bars I do still get numbness in my throttle hand. Hope they work for you !

Tried out the new bars this morning - and first impressions are I do not think they are going to cure the pins and needles in my throttle hand, the ergonomics are better however and the bars feel like they are "in the right place".

When I make my home made throttle stop at least I shall be able to give my throttle hand a rest.

I have the same problem with all bikes - I am pretty sure I suffer with CTS

Ok, so how high can I go before needing longer cables/brakelines?

I thinking about these 28MM Bar Clamp Riser Taper Handlebar & Pro-Taper EVO Adventure 1 1/8" Handlebar Adventure High Bend Black

Or do you think the bars will be high enough? I'm 6'3"

At 6'3" you shouldn't need the risers. The adv high bend should be fine. Try that first before you add risers. You will need extended lines if you run both risers and the high bend bars. Running only one or the other will probably be close to the limit of the stock length lines.

Has anyone ever removed grips that were glued on using m/c grip glue? My wife is a chemist, and suggested I try a few different solvents and a vet needle to get it in there once I've found a solvent that will dissolve the glue. I applied my factory heated grips to the factory bars on my 2014. Don't love the grip design, don't like the sweep of the OEM bars, but I DO love the integrated digital heat settings of the stock heated grips. Plug and play beats the heck out of a dial on the dash. Another option I'm considering is to cut off the old grips, cut the wires and splice a set of grip heaters into the OEM wiring- use a set of Spider grips. Want a flatter, higher bar (ADV or the Raptor) but I don't want to sacrifice my heated grips and the integrated settings. Thoughts?

Flat head screw driver will help you get them off. I was able to remove my stock grips without destroying them. They're worth money, so my advice is take them off gently and sell them in the classifieds. Then use the money to get yourself what you want. Replace them with Windex. Best grip glue not specifically made for that purpose.

Compressed air shot underneath the grip works great. Just use a blow gun with a small diameter nozzle, work it underneath the grip, and when you squeeze the trigger, it will "float" off of the handlebar, and you can pull it off.

Just like many in this thread, I'm not happy with the OEM handle bars on my '14 Tenere. My real complaint is that they have too much sweep. I have OEM heated grips and I'm on a first name basis with Murphy which means,,,,, I'll prolly not get the grips off without damaging them so not so keen on replacing the bars which would be the best thing since it's the sweep that irritates me. Today I installed some Rox risers. Not happy,,,, too high and of course, didn't change the sweep. I was hoping the extra height would help alleviate the discomfort really caused by the sweep but I don't think it works for me. It does make standing on the pegs more comfy though but I stand on the pegs like less than .1% of the time I'm riding on the bike and it's the other 99.9% of the time I'm buggin on.

So finally, here the question and yea, I know it sounds half assed, has anyone placed a long bar in the handle bar ends and tried to bend them slightly forward to get rid of some of that sweep?

If your talking about starting with something like a 'drag' bar (straight) and putting slight bends in it, just a word of caution.
A drag bar is uncomfortable as hell. Your wrist joint pushes your elbows outward (uncomfortable).
Many bikes (like cruisers) have a high sweep or bend and isn't all that uncomfortable because the wrist joint easily allows that position.

Everyone's different, but I just made some bars for my 2012 that are 3"+ higher than stock and kept the stock sweep. (I'm 6'3")
Haven't ridden it yet but I think I'm gonna like it!

I just ordered the Pro Taper Evo Adventure High Handlebars. Did you need to add extended lines? I am going to add the high bars without risers.

Any help is appreciated.

I extended them because I didn't like how tight they were with the rox risers + the stock handle bars. There is an altrider kit that relocates the brake junction block by the head tube of the frame to give you a little extra slack. My advice is to leave it, when you get the bars decide whether or not your comfortable with the slack. I can tell you that the SS extended lines from RideonADV are not as intimidating to install as it seams as you can gravity bleed them without having to take the bike to the dealer to get the ABS pump bled.

I will try it without the extended lines as you suggested. If I am uncomfortable with it or want to keep my 1" risers on then I will call RideonADV.
