I would like to see them on an S10 before I make up my mind. Rear shot with both size bags. Also the interior
strap question was never answered. I like the bags and have used side load saddle bags before. I am buying a new
bike and don't want to drop a grand on something I have not seen.

I don't blame you, it's a good chunk of change. Unfortunately, with them not being released it is hard for Micatech to have photos of this bike with the bags installed. I have seen their bags up close and have inspected them closely myself, that is why there is no doubt in my mind how they are made. Maybe they will be at Bike week again this year in March. I am hoping to ride the Super Tenere this year instead of just drooling on it, but who knows what mama yama has in store. They had a Euro model Super Tenere at Biketoberfest back in October.

I live about 45 mins from Micatech so shipping is not an issue for me. Since I've never seen the bike or the bags, a few questions...

....how much $$$ are the oe Yamaha bags? Whats bad about them. I have always been partial to a top loading bag because my crap falls out on the ground with a side loader, doesn't anybody else have this problem? When the bike takes a nap, what gets broken? How much to fix it?

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I need more info to make an informed decision. Has anyone done a comparison?

OK.............sorry, I just read about it over on the luggage thread, it seems the oe bags are pretty weak. Sorry to ask questions when I should have done my research first.

I have had side loading bags on four bikes and never had a problem with my crap falling on the ground when I open them because I always use bag liners. I leave the bags on the bike when I get to my destination and simply take the liner bags out with all my stuff in them. Of course, you could do the same with top loaders and if I end up with top loaders I will do that. Never saw the sense in lugging the bags in when all I needed was the stuff inside.

Hi guys,

We don't have plans for a cross strap. It is a clever idea though. However, the Micatech bags are a semi-side loading design and have a deep well on the bottom. There is also a 1/2" lip on the other 3 sides of the door opening. The well and lip really help keep your gear inside the bags. True, it's not perfect, but it's leaps and bounds above a clamshell side loading case. We'll consider the idea and try out some prototypes in the future.

As for the falling/crashing/tipping over/beating... It happens to the best of us... These are STRONG bags. The door has a strong cross brace. Take a look at our customer Ben Slavin's ride from New Hampshire to Ushuaia, Argentina (www.AFewMoreMiles.com). He dropped the bike well over 50 times. The bags got scratched up but never dented or leaked. Ask anyone with Micatech bags and they'll tell you these are TOUGH bags.

Let us know if there's anything else we can do to help. Thanks again for the interest.

Thanks for the information....What if anything typically...or might you expect would break when using the proposed set-up and the bike goes down? I'm not familiar with the micatech mounts because my experience is with Gobi's and BMW Bags. The Gobi's are bomb proof but the BMW set up usually costs a bundle when the bike takes a nap. Any thoughts?

We don't expect anything to break... The Micatech V2 pannier itself is very rugged. The pannier then mounts to the SW-Motech racks. Our customers have been using these racks on various bikes (KLR, Vstrom, GS) with great success. SW-Motech makes a good rack. Every bike is a little different and therefor the SW-Motech rack is a little different from bike to bike. Anything is possible... However, both Micatech panniers and SW-Motech racks have great reputations so we don't foresee anything to break...

If you were to take a high speed crash (let's hope you don't), the rack would probably give way before the panniers and bike would. That's a good thing - racks are inexpensive compared to new panniers or a new subframe... Our powdercoat finish is very durable. However, if you're out on the trail and you drop the bike on a pile of rocks, you might see a few scratches but probably not any dents or tweaks in the racks. If you drop it in the parking lot, you might not even get a scratch.

Here's what can happen when you hit a 200 pound deer at 45mph... This Pilot case was mounted on our old BMW 1150GS. The door still opens and closes. The bike was totaled...

Ok, I am pulling the trigger on these.. :) I don't think I can find a better case for the money, and the side loading is
what I really like. Some like it some don't, but for me it works.
Also I talked with Micatech today and they said I could return them if I did not like. It would have to be a real loser for
me to pay the extra shipping. ;D

Micatech, if you read this and want to fab the interior strap holders on mine, feel free.. :-X

Now all I have to do is pay for them. :'(

These are without question the best bags out there. I was all set to order some Jesse's when I came across a display pair at a dealer. Have them, use them, love them. Even have cup holders for crying out loud. Get the new "roof racks", just makes it easier to strap-on those items you do not put inside. :D They will take a beating and the powdercoat holds up well. The mounting hardware is very cool too. Well thought out product.

Thanks for the endorsement. That is exactly what I saw when I thoroughly reviewed their product in person. I can't think of a better luggage system made. Do you have pictures of your luggage mounted? Would love to see your set up.

We need 3 more buyers to get the deal. The manufacturer has limited it to the super tenere luggage set up only.

Designed specifically for Mexican beer...
Great idea. Think I'm now sold on your bags.

I am still in the running for these. I am still evaluating some other possibilities but these have moved to the top of my list.
I also spoke to Sue and she was very helpful with some special considerations that she was willing to make for me and that is a big factor into my decision as well.
Their customer support seems to be outstanding.

I'm curious as to what size bags or boxes everyone is going to order. 8" left and 10" right or 2 eights or 2 tens? I'm thinking 2 eights to keep it as narrow as possible.
