I never really look for technical accuracy in Westerns; if I did, I'd be endlessly disappointed (I'd once heard the Tombstone event referred to more as an old west version of the Sopranos rather than a battle of good and evil, and I definitely agree with that). Westerns are a unique American mythology; they're our version of the stories of Zeus, or Hercules, or Beowulf. When they are at their best, I think they define what Americans believe about themselves and their country. If I watch a movie like the Searchers, whether or not the clothing is accurate, or if Ethan has the right kind of Winchester, is totally irrelevant to me; the story it tells, and the epic way it depicts the West, are what resonate with me.

When it comes to drama, I'll take discussions of westerns over "I'm taking my ball and going home" any day of the week.

If it's back into the mid 1800's they've gotta have muzzleloaders, and they've gotta show at least somebody reloading properly. To add further spin to this, I enjoy Jose Wales as much if not more than Tombstone. Jose doing the speedloader thing, awesome.

I'll make the concession that I would notice if the men at the Alamo were armed with Colt Single Action Armys, and I would hope a filmmaker wouldn't have such an egregious disregard for history that he would allow that. I just don't need to have precise historical accuracy in a film in order to enjoy it. I love The Rifleman, and I'm not bothered that he's carrying a rifle that is about a decade ahead of the time period that the series takes place. I can still watch Kelly's Heroes without inaccurate uniforms or German armor detracting from my enjoyment.

And I love me some Outlaw Josey Wales. If that's on TV, I'll be watchin' it. How can you not love a movie with lines like "dyin' ain't much of a livin' boy", and "buzzards gotta eat, same as worms"?

No forum is perfect (I'm on a few that are pretty close) but this one seems less bitchy and snarky than most content on AdvRider. I guess there's no "ignore" button on this forum (or am I missing it?) ::021::

There is an ignore button for ignoring specific forum members. (Profile-Modify Profile-Buddies/Ignore List). I have used it rarely as most on here post useful, friendly, funny, etc info, but make an exception when a Mr Know It All makes a habit of trying to impress us. I have used it recently, but now that is resolved.

The "other" Fred. ;D

I'm not talking about historical accuracy. I'm strictly limiting the question than movie making goofs, or maybe laziness.

The first one is when Curly Bill is confronted by the sheriff as he is howling and shooting at the moon. The sheriff's microphone wire is exiting his pant leg and going off camera.

The other is while Wyatt is standing in the rain after Morgan dies. He's standing in the only tiny area where it is raining on the entire street. Wyatt, move back 6 feet. It's much dryer back there.

Shrek I think you meant to type ceremony. Old Rider is a member who has been helpful to the community here that PM kinda shows Bad Fred's true colors. I just ignored Fred but the majority of his post were something he could ask a cop about. Some kind of injustice to him.
Some California stature that he would blow out of proportion. His first post he bagged on Baja Designs about a light that has a lifetime warrantie before calling the company. I think we figured out Freds true colors.(Its to early for Cindi Lauper)It's not easy to like everybody who visits here (I don't expect everybody likes me) and we don't all have to agree on everything but if you liked Freds PM to Oldrider I think it says something about your character. I guess we are all different
