Off subject, but if you want to get a very visceral idea of the pure hell it must be to experience a Tsunami, take a look at this scene out of the movie "Hereafter":

http://youtu.be/2t0zQ9RmYSc

Some of the best special effects I've seen. Not a bad movie BTW. Matt Damon stars, directed by Clint Eastwood.

As others have said, knowing that people went through this puts our wishing for our new toy to get here sooner in perspective.

Paperwork? Something other than what is shown on the computer system?

That scene is unbelievably frightening. I can't imagine the horror of something like that.

If I have to wait a while longer to get the bike, so be it. It'll just have the spirit of tenacity in it and that'll make it all the more special.

Yep, it's like the weather. There just ain't gonna be much you can do about it. Sit back and relax. They just might surprise you. You know they're gonna want to deliver these bikes just as badly as you want to receive them. It's not like it's a T shirt on order. This is their initial debut into North America. Yamaha has a lot at stake here. Rest assured they are doing everything they possibly can. We can do our part by being understanding of their situation. If it's something you just can't live with, I would be really surprised if you weren't able to get your deposit back. But give 'em a little more time. They weren't supposed to show up before about June anyway. R

I ordered Nov 15, dealer computer moved me from July to June del date after earthquake. Checked yesterday still says June confirmed.
I'm not holding my breath, but I did order some crash bars from Altrider so I have something to look at in the garage.

Now that's what I like to hear, a little more positive news about all this waiting stuff. :)

On your way to everywhere, , Iowa
I stopped by the dealer this morning and they where putting together a V Star 950. The date on the steering head said made in February. I know thats before the earthquake problems, but they got it in the first part of April. The steering date does not say if it was made in the first or last part of Feb. but any way you cut it , It only took two months to be made ,shipped and delivered to the dealer. If Japan can get production power up and going June is not out of the question.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if they can work around any supplier issues Yamaha normally builds hundreds of bikes a day and from the rumors going around only about 700-800 are probably preordered in the US. Pretty much they could bust these out in a week or two once the production lines are ready. I have a feeling most of the preordered bikes are going to show up around the same time and not spread out over a couple months. These are basically guaranteed sales and both Yamaha and their dealers will want these right away vs. bikes that may sit around in the showroom.

If I was placing a bet on delivery date my guess would be July to early August for all of them but I have no basis for that, just a hunch.

Before the earthquake/tsunami, my dealer said the same thing; My bike was scheduled for delivery in Aug and he had a hunch I would get delivery in July.

This is a bike already in production, with some mods for US...but not like a new model.
Japan needs revenue from sales of anything and everything.
Yamaha needs income.
For a new bike, the best way to get advertising is word of mouth....folks seeing the bike at the popular gathering spots, like Dragon, Rock Store....the places MCs congregate and the later the delivery, the lower the exposure.

Really? Good news for me...same date I ordered mine.

How did he know? Was it updated in the dealer order system? When I call my dealer, he looks it up online...was that the initial date he gave you? Or, had that been updated?

Recently my dealer gave me a July delivery date and I ordered my Raven S10 January 27, 2011
I'm having a hard time believing these dates dealers are giving.
How can someone with a 1/27/11 order date, get a July delivery while someone who ordered in Oct. 2010 is told they get a August delivery time?
Some have stated their date was moved up from July to June AFTER THE QUAKE??? C'mon...
Either the dealers ordered a bunch of bikes on 9/1/10 or they are blowing smoke up some of yall's whazoo's!!!

I don't think my dealer knows much about the Super Tenere. I did see him look something up on the computer though. July was the only delivery date I ever received from him recently (5 days ago).
Maybe they have different shipping dates for the Blue or the Raven. I agree with some of the comments. Some dealers may be making up figures just to keep us interested in the purchase.

If we've already purchased, not sure the value in blowing smoke and pissing us off: My dealer sees all the orders in his overall Yamaha delivery system, including "estimated" product receipt dates.

We don't really know when the bike will arrive until local dealer calls and says "it's here".

However, consider the possibility that due to the turmoil in the North, Yamaha has moved production of the ST up, because they were able to source all components and take advantage of production capacity...not saying they are, suggesting they could be.

I ordered mine on 1 Sept and will find out from the dealer tomorrow what my delivery date is. Don't know if I will believe whatever date is in the system, as I think there are still alot of unknowns with Yamaha's production.

It will get here when it gets here. I still have plenty of other bikes to ride, so all will not be lost if it shows up late. I understand the frustration if you live in a place that has a shorter riding season (I ride all year) and it would be the pits if a new, exciting bike shows up right at the tail end of the season.

And that's probably what is going to happen here. But that is totally beyond my control. I agree. It will get here when it gets here. Nothing I can do to speed it up. I'm gonna let it be a surprise. I'm hoping for a mid-summer delivery as I really want to cruise the Canol Roads up here. I sold my KLR so I'm limited to pavement only. But I'll survive if it doesn't make it in time. I'll kill lots of spiders in the meantime, but I'll be fine. R

I was one on those where the date moved in after the Quake.

Ordered my bike the end of December with a delivery date of July. My dealership called me a few weeks ago and told me the delivery date was changed to June and I should begin the financing. I called the dealership, again last week, and it is still scheduled for June. I really don't believe the date. I've read several FJR forums where the bike (FJR) arrived several months after the due date with no earthquake.

As the Teneres are guaranteed sales, Yamaha may have decided to put all their effort into producing these bikes, as opposed to spending time and resources on models that may sit around a showroom for a couple of years before being sold. If you're production capability is limited, why not focus on products that you know you can sell??? I dunno .... makes sense to me. But then, so did the Edsel. R
