Hi S10Dano! I ordered a few days after you (09/29) and was also given a July delivery.

How's that dualsport XR400 working? I have a 2002 that I'm tempted to street title so I have something to ride until the Tenere shows.
And I ordered March 5th.....and have a July date. Roseville Yamaha took 7 S10 orders. One for the owner, one for a relative of his, and 5 customers.

We're gonna have to plan some S10 rides!!!!

Greetings to All!!
Been quietly sitting on the sidelines watching and waiting since placing my order on 9-26-2010. I called my dealer in Sacramento today.. He said my bike is scheduled for a July delivery. 2 other S10's were ordered a few weeks before mine and are slated for June. I have my trusty dualsported XR 400 to console me during the interim and unlike waiting for a baby to be born, the fun starts when it gets here !! :<)
Welcome S10Dano!

I think most of the "scheduled delivery" dates that are in the dealers computer are simply the dates that were put in there before the Tsunami. I'm beginning to seriously doubt their accuracy since many auto and bike manufacturers in Japan are experiencing serious supply issues. Considering how many parts it takes to build a motorcycle, the chances that even just one crucial part is unavailable is way high.

Therefore, at this point I really think Yamaha needs to start giving us some real information. Dealing with delays is one thing (something I'm personally quite willing to do), but dealing with a complete silence is not really acceptable. I think it is unlikely that these bikes will be delivered soon and it's time for Yamaha to let us know some details. I can tolerate a delay. I cannot tolerate an information blackout all summer.

OK My dealed told me I could have my money back on the bike and the Accesorys, that there would be no Super Teneres before Nov. if then. The field rep said all dealers would know this by tomarrow but he knew I was going to Alaska on mine in July so he called my dealer and had him call me.
I'm just going to wait and see what happens .

I'll wait it out. Today Blackfoot Motorsports in Calgary said I still had a June delivery although I'm sure they don't know for sure. Lets see what happens when June rolls around.

um, there is only one April Fools Day a year isn't there?? Uh, yeah, that would really suck!!!! Like someone else said, there is too much of a variance in deliveries to really know what is what, and when is when?? So, i'll keep driving my truck to work,,aarrgghh on the 16 miles per gallon!!!

November would suck, but considering all that has happened in Japan it would not be all that shocking. The devastation there is on a scale that is hard to comprehend. If the bike is delayed another year or longer I will wait. There's nothing else on the market that interests me. I hope the information is incorrect, but will wait to see if anything official is released.

I have been waiting a decade for a "GS" that was not made by BMW. A lengthy delay isn't going to be a big deal to me at all. I learned a long time ago that life is too short to get fired up over things that you have no control over.

We should all be more worried about the poor people in Japan getting back on their feet instead of being preoccupied with our own instant gratification.

What you said, Simmons1 !! First class. I like it !! I'm disappointed, of course, if all this turns out to be true. But this is looking to be a truly unique bike. I'm gonna have to have one. I'm gonna ride it out - pun intended. I may have to make arrangements for a gravel prone bike for part of the summer, but I'll do that. Otherwise, just me and my ST1300 for this summer. I'll make up for it next year. R

Visited my dealer about a week ago. Said that he had 7 orders placed for Triumphs canceled by the factory due to a lack of parts (electronics) from Japan. This situation will obviously affect a lot of other folks. Hopefully the parts for our bikes have already been manufactured and the delay is due to the production slow down.

The ripple effect of the disaster will have far reaching results. The Japanese manufacture a ton of component parts for GM, Harley Davidson and thousands of other companies, both here in the US and abroad. Second sourcing some of these components would be a PITA (if even possible/feasable). Quality issues, costs and lead times would be a nightmare and the customer would end up with a lesser product and in the end, delivery times probably wouldn't be any better.

Delays are going to be common. Japan is a manufacturing powerhouse. This disaster, in one way or another, is going to affect just about everybody.

Just got the bad news from my dealer. Yamaha sent out an email this morning saying November with the option to opt out and get your $500 deposit back. At 55 with no bike to ride I will probably opt out. Bummer, I was really looking forward to this ride. Best of luck to everyone and I'm sure it will be worth the wait for those who choose to do so. But at 55 who knows how much longer I'll have to ride.

Sorry to hear that you're opting out. I know guys in their 60's and 70's that ride more now than they did in their 50's. I'm still psyched at getting this bike, even if it's next year.

Hi Gat
It's a great bike !! I've put 18 thou on it riding all over Nor Cal.. Even once through the Rubicon !! Had a 86 XL 600 before that Loved the 600's power but the 400 is way lighter for the rough stuff.. Can't wait to do some long distance riding with the S10.

I feel your pain. I am 67 and no bike to ride, and over 2 thousand in parts waiting on the new bike.

I am going to have back surgery sometime in May, so I'm not sure where I will be with that. I just wish Yamaha had kept us in the loop more! I'm sure they knew early on that their suppliers would not be able to keep up.

I still pray for a quick recovery for the nation as a whole..
