Where can you get a weekend's worth of hookers and blow for $500.00 ???!
Easy...You put a $500 deposit on Yamaha's 2012 early release of the FTR1200TM and head back to the 70's. 8)

Okay - I'm over it. I have my FJR to ride for all of my Spring to early-mid Summer rides and the extra month or so that I have to wait for the SuperT will be spent riding and/or planning more farkles and such. Life goes on!!!

(well - maybe not totally over it, but I'll make it with this GREAT forum)

:)

Yes, this too shall pass. I'm sure thankful for my awesome ST1300. Just waiting in the garage, freezing his little shaft drive off. I am encouraged, as it's supposed to soar up to minus 17 today. Spring is on the way.

I tried to order some good stuff from Altrider the other day. Apparently they are negotiating for a Canadian distributor. As I am in no hurry, especially now it seems, I'll just hide and watch on that. Probably be cheaper on the shipping.

My Give top case plate for the Tenere got here, and I guess the Micatech panniers will be in soon. That will keep my interest up and my bank account down. Gotta balance these things out. OK, time for my nap. RR

Well, this is disappointing but understandable. We do have to remember last year this time we did not have the bike as an option here in the states. Luckily Yamaha gave us the option of the PDP. Maybe the program is not perfect but at least it gives us a shot at a bike we would not have had otherwise. I will try to continue to be understanding and wait my turn, but I am not happy about it.

I don't think it hurts to let Yamaha know how we feel so they can learn from it too. Maybe there is something they can do to schedule the PDP programs better in the future. May seems a lot closer now, but August seems so freakin far off now.

A reasonable position. And who knows, they may just show up as originally predicted. They haven't not done that yet. Perhaps taking the bull by the tail and facing the situation early on like this, Yamaha will be more attentive to our motorcycle addictions.

I still don't understand how the early order gets the worm, so to speak. Obviously, the chronology of orders will be spread all over the continent. It would be interesting to know exactly how they plan to administer that, but since I don't have any big shot contacts in the Yamaha empire, I'm not privy to that info. Would be interesting to know. I am also accepting that mine, ordered during the dealer meeting on Sept 1 may be June delivery, instead of my reasonably assumed May delivery. I know that our dealer's order numbers are very low and had assumed that we would be the first delivered. However, in looking at our thread on listing your order numbers, even though mine is the lowest number and our dealer has the next two ordered, but they are not listed, there are only 90 or so listed. I know there are more than that on this forum and I know that there are about 800 ordered. Yamaha, on their facebook replies has said something to the extent that their deliveries are still on schedule. That leads me to think that there may certainly be order numbers lower than ours and those may be scheduled for May delivery.

Yamaha all along said that first ordered will be first delivered, starting in May. Evidently many took that to mean thay would all be delivered in May. That is quite an assumption and that was never the claim. Those that took some time to make up their minds will get theirs a bit later than those that pulled the trigger right off the bat.

As I recall, the registration program wasn't even available in Canada until January of this year. So I guess it's a whole 'nother ball game up here. Not sure where we fit in with you southerly folk. Yamaha Canada is supposedly a separate entity. Hide and watch. R

Well, just talked to my dealer's sales manager, and mine is listed for July (ordered Sep. 7). Pretty much what I expected. I can only hope it isn't late July. If it's early, I should have time to prep it for the August trip. I really expect it to work better for me than the ST1300 (which is a great bike, don't get me wrong). But life will go on and we'll have fun either way!

Just spoke with Yamaha CS and the person I spoke with took my contact info down and said by next week he should have a list of S10 order numbers and their status. He said he would call me back with some update. I relayed to him some folks on the forum are not too happy with the July/Aug time frame and he understood and is trying to do what he can. More to come next week hopefully.

Hey Rem,

Not trying to be smart or anything, but you being so far north and you got your bike in August, wouldn't your riding season be pretty much done?

For your sake I hope you get yours in May for crying out loud. I bet it's really beautiful up there.

I just came from my dealer to ask about delivery dates. I ordered mine mid Sept but cant recall what number I was. He had received an email from Yamaha about my bike saying it would be delivered in June. I can live with this but hope it's early June. I probably do less riding from the end of June to the end of August than I do any other time of year. It's just to damn hot. Good luck to everybody on a timely release, especially those like me who are bikeless for now.

Ok, I spoke with CS this morning and was told the bikes are being delivered late because of California and New York EPA regs.
The lady said the bikes were not ready to be produced until that is settled. We spoke for awhile and I really don't believe anything she said. Nothing rang true.
I also was told my bike would be at the dealers in August. The July dates are ship dates and not arrival dates at the dealers.

At this point I was ready to cancel my order and went to my dealer to do so. He understood and was ready to do whatever I wanted.

I talked about buying another bike and using it until the S10 came in, and this is where things took a turn for the better.
He offered to let me buy a used bike, but in reality, he would be buying it. Keep it on his books and let me ride it until mine arrived at the dealer. This would keep me from paying taxes and insurance on the used bike.

When my new bike comes in, I would be given a trade value to put back into my account. This is not such a bad deal if I can find
the bike I want at the right price. I don't mind losing some money to have a bike to ride for the summer. :)

So that is where I'm at now. I still feel Yamaha could have handled this much better, but at least I have a great dealer.

Go for the deal, at least you won't be without a bike for the summer. I'm surprised the dealer would take on the liability for you though.

Koinz, your comment is disturbingly correct. Depending on the year and the weather, September 1 may pretty well mark the end of the riding season up here. We can have a very nice fall, as we did last year, or it can all go fubar in early September.

Not sure what to do about it but just wait and see I guess. I do have a lovely ST1300 that I purchased new last year, so I'm not strapped in that regard.

I don't know how things will work up here anyway. I don't know if Canada is on a separate ordering schedule or not. We were not even allowed to register for a bike until January of this year. I don't know if that puts us last in the North American category, or first in the Canadian category. Hide and watch I guess.

I'll struggle through somehow. Send money. RR
