Just ordered one myself for ~$39.50 shipped. Didn't get the nut, yet, but that's minor if this does in fact come to fruition. If not, I'll get a call from stadium yamaha saying the price was wrong and I'll cancel my order...

I've ordered too. What the hell - could be the best $40 spent ever. The price in Canada for this part is over $600 so this has to be a pricing error. Perhaps this is the motorcycling gods evening the score after what should have been a recall/free fix.

I, too, ordered only a clutch basket and did not order the gasket or the nut...

That way if Yamaha goes ahead and ships the clutch basket at that low price I can always get the nut and gasket later. Those are easy and readily available, with no question or mystery about what they are supposed to cost.

OTOH, if I ordered all three, and Yamaha suddenly got cold-feet over the clutch basket price and wouldn't ship it for the cheapie number, I might end up with a clutch cover gasket and basket nut I don't need... Since they'd probably go ahead and ship those. I want to just wait and see if they deliver on the clutch basket for $25 bucks! ::025::

Hell, if they do I not only will spring for the nut and the gasket, but a whole new set of clutch plates, a new clutch spring, bearing, etc. After all, my bike's got over 40-K on it, and might as well refresh it all if I'm in there even though the clutch is working perfectly at the moment.

This is going to be intriguing to watch... ::017::

I'm hoping after all the suspense on pricing that this is the fix we've been waiting for. It would amaze me that such a common and annoying issue can be resolved for $25. I know that would piss off a lot of people. ::010::

I thought about that...then remembered you need a new cover gasket for a valve adjustment anyways...

Maybe the $30-and-under pricing is Yamaha's way of allowing all the 2012-2013 owners to upgrade to the new 2014 clutch assembly easily

I was thinking the same thing. They recognized the problem and provided a fix. Very cool if it goes that way. ::008::

Just curious. Have any of the 2014 owners verified that there's no clutch vibration issues? 8)

Makes the discs and plates lock up tighter for a firmer stronger pull away. I haven't heard of anybody complaining of slip yet, and we've got some miles on these things out there. Some may have just changed their discs as a matter of maintenance. I installed a Barnett pressure plate on my #8oo Royal Star at close to 50,000 miles w/some slip, used old discs and plates, no slipping afterwards, trailer and all... to 110,000 miles.

Well, I too just went to Stadium Yamaha and took a sip of the Kool-Aid. I figured what he heck, I couldn't get a side cover gasket when I did my valves, probable should go back in there anyway!

I will be utterly SHOCKED if a new basket shows up for $39 delivered.

Just tried ordering the parts;
Nut and gasket ex Aussie no problem
Clutch primary ex Japan price incorrect should read $599.50.

Guys if they honour the price buy heaps.... I'll have one of you ;)

Ordered mine. This week will be very interesting to see if the start shipping these for $30. I'm sure they are going to be back ordered like crazy, and gives them an oppertunity to back out of the price, I guess will see....
I also have had the Barnett for the last year. Makes a noticable difference on a modified bike.

Another order placed here and hope this goes through.

This will be my first time working on a clutch so if anyone has tips / pictures of their install, please do share. Thanks.

Just don't mess up. Things spinny fast in them parts. ::008::

I created a thread back when I installed my barnett plate, so I doesn't go into FULL removal but gets you most of the way there. Other than aligning the tabs alternately on the plates not a whole lot of gotchas that the service manual fails to cover very well.
