Luck that must have been an error on thier part

From their website
2BS-16150-00-00 PRIMARY DRIVEN GEAR COMP. $446.52 $392.94

I had to re order with my Paypal the woman on the other end told me it will be for the my Original invoice price from July of $37.76, my guess is she knew this was the incorrect price but gave it to me anyway. ::003::

night and day difference. If you haven't got a basket on the way, get one coming. I let another super ten owner ride it and he couldn't believe the difference. GET A BASKET!

Jumped on the bandwagon last week and ordered mine through Stadium Yamaha, USA. I still managed to save myself £222.14 ($363.00) by buying the requisite parts from the US (including the quite frankly extortionate UPS shipping costs ). Not a cheap upgrade by any means but if it stops my hands from going numb on long journeys, it'll be worth every penny.

As the miles have increased on my S10, I'd become more an more annoyed by the vibrations that now appear at motorway speeds (3-3,500rpm) and make my hands go numb. More recently, I'd also noticed that at tickover, there is a slight clattering noise coming from the right side of the engine, that disappears when the clutch is pulled in.

Having read the favourable results of the clutch basket swap on this forum, I decided to give the idea some further examination.

I was very disappointed to find that the price of parts on this side of the pond were a little prohibitive, as it worked out that it'd cost around £590 ($962) for the basket, retaining nut, gasket and delivery. I then looked at the prices my American cousins are paying and found that buying the same components from the USA would only cost £167.98 ($274.16). Then adding shipping from the USA at £118.41 ($193.25), UK duty and taxes, £81.23 ($132.58). This was beginning to look far more reasonable!

So, all in all, it adds up that even with the addition of draconian British VAT and import duty, i'd still be £222.14 ($363) better off importing the bits from the other side of the bloody planet. Does that make any sense to anyone out there? ??? ??? ???
I have noticed this noise as well. It continues even with the new basket installed. I wonder now if I should have changed the needle bearing? Anyone else noticed this condition??

It's pretty common for clutches to rattle and make noise when disengaged. Some make a lot of noise and some don't.

I just mentioned the clutch rattle because it hadn't made any noticeable noise over the past two years. It's not worryingly loud or anything but it's just become more obvious as the bikes mileage has increased. The severity of the vibes that are coming through the handlebars at around 60-75mph, are a real pain though. ::007::

After only 1570 miles on my new 2012 I decided to replace the basket and installed it yesterday. I took a 20 mile test romp and am glad I did it. Now, I can still tell the engine is running but the 3000-3500 rpm vibe is totally gone. The bike is smoother all around and I can cruise at lower speeds in 6th gear 60-65mph with no vibes when adding a little throttle. After having a "chuddering" V-Strom fixed, this was a must upgrade for me. The improvement is profound.

Just had mine done this morning!
I will give update later!! ::008::
Yes the word WoW is a good word for the clutch basket change.. ::012::
Damn this bike is smooth now but now I notice the chain chatter, that is next at my Valve adjustment.

Just to let you know I called Yamaha U.S.A. and asked if putting a manual chain tenser and not OEM would void the warranty.
His reply if the chain broke or anything to do with the timing Yes it would void warranty.
They would blame it for anything after that!! ::024::
I let him know the Basket change is a must and how much it transformed this bike into a true dream.

Seems like everyone that changed to the new clutch basket like it :)

If it makes such a difference it would be next to price less especially if you already got sensitive hands and arms.

Which company is best 7 cheapest, part#?

Cheers!

A big amen to that! I had my CCT done at the same time, and it totally eliminated the clicking noise on cold start-up.

Set yesterday afternoon aside to fit my new clutch basket but managed to finish the job in just over an hour. This was achieved mainly with the help of the shared knowledge of others on this forum and a modicum of mechanical prowess on my part too. Marking each clutch plate with a sharpie (relative to one of the dot marks punched on the outer edge of the basket) as they came out made it a doddle to put them back in correctly too. Buttoned everything back up as per the manual and took her out for a quick spin up and down the driveway, only to be immediately impressed by the difference in the vibration levels.

Took her out for a decent run today and after doing around 160miles on all manner of roads, found myself much impressed with how much better the engine feels. Sitting at around 75-80 mph on the motorway still felt like I was riding a big capacity twin but not one that had a tiny little jackhammer in its crankcase, which turned on at 2,800 revs.

Big smiles all round when I got home, so a celebratory beer may just be in order I reckon. ::001::
