I'm looking to lose the off-idle stumble (sometimes stall). Being a new ST owner, I'm a little confused by all the tech info.

Do both the airscrew and CO2 adjusments need to be done together in order to address the off-idle issue? Is the sync mandentory when doing the airscrews?

Start with the Airscrew adjustment. You will need to sync too. The CO adjust is optional and you may get better results with this as well. I did the Airscrew and sync first and saw a major improvement.

Some people skipped the sync by adjusting both screws by the same amount. While that may work, it assume the TBs were in sync to start with. This was not my case. I checked the sync before touching the airscrew and theiy were off by 10-12 Mbars.

Your RIGHT... And they are NOT the same... Anyone that messes with the air screws really need (must) use a sync tool of some sort. I'm not saying the bike wort run, but its certainly not correct and not going to run to its full potential... ::008::

Perfect guys ::008:: What's the basic sync procedure and what tools are needed?

Again, thanks.
This is covered several times in the first few pages of this post... You will need a sync tool and there are many to choose from. Everything from basic to sophisticated. You can get your basic unit at your local for about $30 or so and as much as $150+.. But PLEASE use one when doing this "mod".. make a difference on having the air screws drawing the same amount of air...
For people that don't know... If you turn the (R-master) out 3/4 turn out... YOU CANT DO THE SAME to the other side and expect them to be the "same"... THEY WILL NOT BE.. ::019:: ::008::

+1! Spend the duckets on a sync tool or borrow one. There's no skipping or short-cutting that.

Anyone in the Sacramento CA area is welcome to use my Harmonizer. I will not ship it.

Since the Brits have a habit of driving on the wrong side of the road anyway, I wouldn't bother... Or, if you would, adjust the right screw to match with the left screw... ;) ::025::

This is more critical with the U.S. bikes because they come new with the air screws nearly closed...especially if they're going to run a PCV. I'm guessing the UK spec comes set-up at 3/4 open, as the Euro spec does.

how do you know the euro spec bikes have the airscrew 3/4 open?

No doubt I may be crucified for this question but since it's nearly Christmas....

Is there any objective evidence to support an improvement in fueling or performance with the Airscrew mod? Lots of empirical testimony from good people here but also lots of questions and a few conflicting ideas on how the mod actually works.

Since most of my money is in EU banks, and most of these EU banks only have debts, I may consider myself to be a EU banker..... :D ::025::

But, to come back to your question; you're welcome to come over and check the airscrew settings yourself should you still doubt our feedback. ::003::

I'm not totally convinced I did a good thing when I adjusted mine. While I think the balance helped, the initial "3/4 turn out" may not.

Just my 2 cents.

YMMV

I read it in a post from Blue-eyes. My bike is South African spec and it's also 3/4 out (verified by me)...the SA spec bikes pretty much mirror the settings on the Euro Spec bikes...in fact, I'm still not sure what makes the two specs differenct :-\
