Rem,

If we PM you our email addresses, would that be a way around the posting issue?

I'd be interested in electronic copies - I'm a mess with paper. ;D

I'm quite happy to do that, but my Internet service has been very bad for a month now, and they don't seem much closer to fixing it. Think monopoly. They don't care. These particular items are available electronically only. I have set up an alias ... hollywolly1@mac.com. Just email me there and ID yourself. I'll try to send them to you. I'll probably try one at a time. Maybe if they get through, you can advise others and you can try to send some as well. I'm just not sure if files this large will go out or not. Northwestel, our beloved phone, Internet, email, TV provider has a complete monopoly up here and they don't really give a damn it you're having problems or not, so thing don't get fixed in a very timely fashion. Let's give it a try. R

Maybe you can tell me .... I just picked up three really nice electronic publications from Yukon Conventions Bureau. Nice lady. They are not on their website but she has authorized me to distribute them through the forum for downloading. Do you know how large of a file I could post? The limit for pics says 500 kb. Two of these are about 3.5 Mb. If I can't post them, can I send them to a couple of you guys and then you distribute them to whomever wants them? I would offer to do it but my Internet has been really bad for about a month. I think they are finally looking into it but still not good. We have a monopoly up here regarding phone and Internet, so they don't work too hard on solving problems. If you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing them. Got some good info from the Convention Bureau. If nothing else works, she said we could email her and she would email them back, but would be good if we could do it ourselves. Thanks. R
Hmmm, not sure. Perhaps Chris will see this and can answer the question. In the meantime, seems like the best solution is to find someone here that has a FTP site that would host them for you.

Sounds good. If someone sends me their email address, I'll try sending these off. Normally it would be no problem for me fire these off to a bunch of you, but I'm doubtful given my current Internet status. I can barely get into this website most mornings.

This is not meant to reflect on our beloved Northwestel ... BASTARDS !!!!!

I mean, they try really hard. VERMIN !!!!!

They really do care. SWINE !!!!!

I'm sure they'll work it out soon. I mean, it's only been a month. I'm sure they're all over it. R

How I really feel about that outfit would not be suitable even for you rowdy bunch of guys. If they had any competition, they would be out of business in two weeks. They are a bad bunch.

Don't get me started. They are lower than whale shit, and them's their good points.

But I mean that in the nicest way. R

Paul - if you sent me a PM, it didn't make it through yet...

But neither have the files, as far as I know. :D Seems like Northwestel is as bad with service as Verizon!

Don't get me started on Northwestel. You would get better service from a bunch of mangy old alley cats with asthma passing the message along one to the other. R

It looks like the Troll-man and I are gonna meet for coffee this morning. He says he's gonna ride in from Marsh Lake. Humidity is 103% this morning. Looks like frog weather to me.

IF you detect a significant unpleasant odor emanating from the north, well ..... you'll know it's not too serious. R

I am on my way, I just need to slip into my whale foreskin suit and put on my aqualung. I think the snorkle on my hawg is tall enough that the engine will still run.

Re: First North American Super Tenere gathering - Whitehorse,Yukon Canada July 2012

It's been fairly quiet. We have been revelling in our new bikes. Understanding that it is still very early, if any of you can more or less commit to this event next year, it would help. Most of the organizations we have contacted, including Yamaha, indicate that they will get excited when they have some commitment of numbers.

I know that most of you are not in a position to do this. I wouldn't be, but I'm just passing along what I was told. Regardless, we will continue to pursue this. It IS a go. No worries. It will all work out just fine. If any of you make a definite decision to come, to the best of your knowledge at this early stage, let us know. Thanks. R

Re: First North American Super Tenere gathering - Whitehorse,Yukon Canada July 2012

I would really like to go and am making some plans. I need to find another person to ride up with.
Also I don't have camping gear yet and am not sure I want to go that way.
Staying a motels is more expensive, but for me, it may be a better option. :) Getting to old to lay on the ground for a month or more.. :-[

Re: First North American Super Tenere gathering - Whitehorse,Yukon Canada July 2012

My thoughts exactly regarding sleeping arrangements. I have a nice bivy in case of emergency, or just a nice nap out of the rain and mosquitoes, but I'll plan on doing the motel or B & B thing. Not too back if you're willing to share a room. And you might be able to bunk in with some of us on your way up. R

So..... Rem and I need to talk to see if we can even pull this off ( we talked and this is happening ), and here goes some ideas. You guys who have been to events like this - what kinds of things are planned?

We have some very remote, world class adv riding in Yukon and access to two Alaska communities within several hours riding through some of the most beautiful mountains in the north.

The Dempster rivals the Alaska haul road but is more remote and less traveled. read "real" adv terrain.
The North and South Canol is some of the most remote riding around and is beyond spectacular.

Yukon could easily be the destination for many. I would suggest some time around July 1 and 4 so we hit Canada Day and US 4th of July.

let's start talking this up guys 8)
Troll,

Count me in.

Deadhorse seems rather passé these days. Everyone does it. But the Dempster, now that's an adventure. Plus, it's technically closer for anyone coming from the lower 48. Most people just don't know it's there... Inuvik awaits the ST invasion!
